Once Hytale returned to its original developers, Hypixel Studios, players were keen to find out if the game would soon be available in Early Access.
Just five months after announcing they were stopping development, Riot Games has sold Hytale back to its original creators, Hypixel Studios.
Hypixel’s Simon Collins-Laflamme explained to Hytale fans that the game isn’t ready for Early Access yet, as it doesn’t meet their quality standards. When it does launch in Early Access, it will be a basic version with many bugs – which is typical for games in that stage of development.

During an interview with AntVenom, Collins-Laflamme cautioned players not to expect a complete game at launch, explaining that many features won’t be available when the early access version releases.
Collins-Laflamme admits the game will have issues and feel unfinished, like a very early version. They’re counting on players to provide feedback and help improve it.
Simply put, the game isn’t ready for early access because, according to Collins-Laflamme, it still needs more work.
Hypixel Studios Will Need the Help of the Community to Improve Hytale
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Collins-Laflamme shared his thoughts about the game’s state:
I’m incredibly grateful to Riot for their collaboration in making this possible. Their priority, like mine, has always been getting the game into players’ hands.
This game means a lot to me personally, and I’m thrilled to be able to revive it.
Let’s be honest: Hytale isn’t a fully finished, top-tier game right now…

He further reiterated that the goal will be to shape the game as they go.
Collins-Laflamme announced the game is launching now, even though it’s not fully finished, and that they’ll continue to improve it with updates. They explained this approach means players won’t have to wait any longer to start playing.
Collins-Laflamme also noted that the plans for Hytale will change based on what players think. They want to be adaptable and avoid making promises they can’t fulfill.
Riot Games’ new game engine is currently lagging behind in terms of gameplay quality. Because of this, it’s expected to be about two years before it’s ready for initial public testing, known as early access.

Their team’s current game engine is functional and includes many core features, but it still needs refinement.
When the game launches in early access, players can anticipate some imperfections and bugs. Hypixel is asking the community to help improve the game by sharing feedback and reporting any problems they find.
The team hasn’t announced a release date for Hytale’s early access, but it seems like it could be coming soon.
