For those who love theme parks, it’s always a mix of looking forward to the latest rides and fondly remembering the old favorites. It’s tough when popular attractions close down, because once they’re removed, a piece of park history is lost forever.
Disney parks heavily rely on guests’ fond memories, but they’re also quick to remove older features when they decide to update things. For example, the large dinosaur statue that used to be in Dinoland U.S.A. has already been destroyed as part of the land’s redesign, and I thought a beloved ride in Frontierland had met the same fate.

The Liberty Belle Is Still In One Piece (For Now)
Disney World is making a major update to Magic Kingdom – the biggest since the park first opened over 50 years ago. A large section of Frontierland is being reimagined as a *Carsthemed area called Piston Peak. Many fans are disappointed by this change because it means the Rivers of America, the park’s main water attraction, will be removed, along with Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat.
Okay, so I thought the Liberty Belle boat was gone for good after it left the park. But, Bioreconstruct, who always gets amazing photos of everything at the parks, just posted some new pictures, and it looks like the boat is actually still intact – at least it was a few days ago. Pretty cool!
I was really relieved to see this picture. I’d heard rumors the Liberty Belle ship had already been torn down, so it’s great to know it’s still standing. Even though it’s no longer part of the Magic Kingdom ride, it’s good that the ship itself has been preserved. Seeing it in good condition definitely makes you wonder if Disney has future plans for it.
I Hope Disney World Finds Another Way To Use It
Disney might be deciding that dismantling the Liberty Belle is too much effort right now. Alternatively, they could have future plans for the ship, which is why it hasn’t been taken apart yet.
I honestly don’t know what the future holds for Piston Peak. What we *do* know is that the Liberty Belle won’t be included in any of the new plans. Given the overall theme of *Cars*, it’s hard to see how the boat would even fit in.
Walt Disney World is huge, so there’s a chance this attraction might reappear somewhere else in the future. I really hope that happens! It’s an important part of Disney World’s past and should be preserved whenever possible.
