Reese Witherspoon has created a lasting impact through her acting roles, television shows, and her production company, Hello Sunshine, all of which focus on stories that uplift and unite women. Having been a part of the entertainment world since she was a teenager, I’ve really enjoyed following her career. It’s great to see both Kelly Clarkson and her son enthusiastically supporting her potential to achieve EGOT status, which she truly deserves.
An EGOT is someone who has won an Emmy, Tony, Oscar, and Grammy award – the four biggest entertainment prizes. Reese Witherspoon has an Oscar and an Emmy, but still needs a Grammy and a Tony to complete the set. On *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, the host jokingly complained that Witherspoon didn’t receive a Grammy for her singing in the movie *Walk the Line*, and I completely agree with Clarkson’s strong feelings about it!
I was frustrated because it seemed so obvious she should have won, especially considering all her other accomplishments. She’s incredibly successful and could realistically have achieved EGOT status by now, though I realize that doesn’t really matter. I genuinely thought she had it in the bag.
Many people assume Reese Witherspoon received a Grammy Award for her singing in *Walk the Line*, especially given how convincingly she portrayed June Carter. However, as she clarified, it was actually the film’s soundtrack that won the award. Regardless, her incredible performance as the iconic country singer remains unforgettable.
Reese Witherspoon recently told Kelly Clarkson that her son, Tennessee, also feels a little disappointed she hasn’t achieved EGOT status (winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award). Apparently, Tennessee is very interested in his mom’s career and had a sweet reaction that’s really touching!
My youngest just asked me if I could win an EGOT – you know, an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony! It totally made me laugh, but it also made me realize how much work I’d have to do! He’s really pushing for me to get a Tony, and honestly, his little encouragement is the cutest. He basically told me to get moving and make it happen!
It’s adorable that Reese Witherspoon shared her 13-year-old son doesn’t even know what a Tony Award is! Having grown up around movie sets, her kids are used to offering her career advice. Apparently, her son Tennessee’s best advice is simply to encourage his mom to win, no matter the award. Now that’s a supportive child!
Reese Witherspoon is so close to achieving EGOT status, and it seems like her next step should be appearing in a play or another musical film. While she has a new movie, *You’re Cordially Invited*, coming to Amazon Prime Video in 2025 and is currently filming Season 4 of *The Morning Show*, neither of those projects will likely earn her an EGOT. Let’s hope she takes on a theatrical role or stars in a musical soon! You can watch a clip from *The Kelly Clarkson Show* about this below.
It’s adorable how much Kelly Clarkson and Reese Witherspoon’s son want her to win an EGOT, and they’re right to point out she’s incredibly talented. I don’t think it’s a question of *if* she’ll achieve it, but *when*. All Reese needs to do is take on another singing role or try her hand at theater, and she’ll be well on her way.
