The Real Housewives franchise is incredibly popular, but some cities consistently draw bigger audiences. Salt Lake City is currently considered one of the best reality shows available, offering viewers plenty of both humor and drama on Bravo and Peacock. The season 6 finale featured a particularly dramatic performance – a play about the women’s relationships, presented like a Greek tragedy – with wild results. I recently spoke with Heather Gay and asked her about her initial reaction to the play, and what it was like to watch it back on television.
While Heather was loyal to Jen Shah in early seasons of RHOSLC, I’ve been fascinating to see her story play out now that Shah is off the show. I had the chance to interview the author and TV personality thanks to her new partnership with Atkins, and I couldn’t but ask about the Greek play aka The Sisters of Salt. The cast all got read to filth, with the poet writing that Heather was “a joke wrapped in mascara”. When I asked how she felt about that already legendary finale, she told me:
I was really happy to receive the mascara. It was the first time the show did a joke about beauty instead of the usual easy jokes. Being a former theater kid, I really get into dramatic moments. So when the characters came out with matching scarves, I was completely on board. And when they pretended to dramatically die, I actually gasped – it felt like watching our friendships unfold.
I totally understand! As someone who was involved in theater, I can imagine how amazing—and maybe overwhelming—it would be to see your life turned into a play. So, even though the drama was intense for the cast of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, it sounds like Heather Gay actually enjoyed watching everything unfold in the season finale.

You can watch The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City exclusively on Peacock, with plans starting at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. For an ad-free experience and the ability to download shows to watch offline, consider upgrading to Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus. See the deal here.
Heather Gay has delivered some unforgettable scenes on Salt Lake City, like her famous monologue in Season 4 where she presented a detailed timeline with screenshots as evidence. Her recent experience with The Sisters of Salt is shaping up to be another standout moment, and she’s now realizing she didn’t fully grasp how harshly the playwright criticized them at the time. As she explained to me:
We were really caught up in the atmosphere and I didn’t pay much attention to the performances themselves. Bronwyn, though, heard everything and kept pointing out how much she wasn’t enjoying it. The rest of us were having a good time, thinking things were pretty good and even dramatic in a cool way. It was fun – we all really love this sort of thing, and I especially do. I was excited to be at the Tomato Museum’s theater-in-the-round.
Heather’s ability to handle difficult situations with grace and provide memorable quotes is why she’s become a fan favorite on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Her playful nickname for the dramatic event that unfolded at the Tomato Museum was genuinely funny – someone needs to put ‘Tomato Museum Theater in the Round’ on a t-shirt!

Even though the season finale of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City featured The Sisters of Salt, there’s still more to come. The reunion started this week, and it’s already full of conflict between the cast members. Things are expected to get even more intense in the next two reunion episodes, with reports that Andy Cohen even temporarily left the set.
You can catch new episodes of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo every Tuesday as part of the 2026 television season. Meanwhile, Heather Gay is expanding her business ventures with a collaboration with Atkins and her streaming series Surviving Mormonism, available on Peacock.
