It’s been nearly a year since my first appearance on U&Alibi, and some viewers likely thought they’d never see what happened after the dramatic ending of season one. But there’s some exciting news about the show’s future!
The BBC has obtained the rights to both seasons of the show. Viewers in the UK will now be able to watch them on BBC One and iPlayer, instead of U&Alibi. The first season will be available on the BBC later this year, followed by the second.
The popular murder mystery series, created by Chris Lang (known for Unforgotten), is returning for a second season with the original cast: Nikki Amuka-Bird, John Simm, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Daniel Rigby, and Harry Lloyd will all reprise their roles.
It’s currently unclear if stars like Trevor Eve, Gemma Jones, Zoë Tapper, Niamh Cusack, Rakhee Thakrar, Percelle Ascott, James Fleet, and Lena Kaur will return.

The series is adding two new actors: Tom Austen, known for his role in “Rematch,” and Zora Bishop, who appeared in “Hijack.” They will both be playing original characters in the show.
Season two finds the Wright family returning, and they’re more dangerous than before. Still grieving the loss of their father, Jack, they’re shocked when one of their own is arrested for his murder. The family now questions whether the police have the correct suspect, and they worry about how this arrest will impact their inheritance.
With a new addition to the family, updated wills, and a trio of shocking deaths, get ready for a dramatic return to the dark and complicated world of the Wrights.
Sue Deeks, who leads scripted acquisitions for the BBC, praised “I, Jack Wright” as a thrilling and entertaining family drama. She highlighted the show’s strong performances and clever plot twists.

During a question-and-answer session after the first season, Lang hinted that the show could definitely be renewed for additional seasons, possibly more than one.
