The latest season of Dancing With the Stars has concluded, with Robert Irwin and Witney Carson winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. The finale also featured Dylan Efron, who received some tough advice from Survivor star Boston Rob. However, Efron faced a personal sacrifice during the competition – he temporarily rehomed his dog to fully concentrate on the show.
Preparing for Dancing with the Stars is extremely demanding, and Danielle Fishel recently showed off the bruises she got during training. Zac Efron even broke his nose near the end of the season because the rehearsals were so strenuous. However, that’s not the whole story. While talking to US Weekly, the winner of The Traitors revealed how he’s been returning to his normal life after Dancing with the Stars, and surprisingly, this includes reuniting with his dog!
I’ve enjoyed this, but I’m returning to my old way of life. I really missed it, though I’m still recovering physically. I’m starting to surf again and I’ve reunited with my dog, which makes things feel normal again.
I expected Dancing With the Stars training to be demanding, but it’s surprising to hear Zac Efron had to temporarily give up care of his dog – probably to fully concentrate on the show. Even though he lives near the set in Los Angeles, he clearly needed to dedicate 100% of his time and energy to DWTS, ensuring his dog still received the attention and care it deserved. It really highlights just how all-consuming the show is.
During his time on Dancing With the Stars, Zac Efron showed viewers how challenging it is to learn a new dance, and his partner, Daniella Karagach, really pushed him. All the hard work paid off, though, as they reached the finals and placed fourth. Seeing how dedicated he was makes their accomplishments even more impressive.
I was really surprised to hear Andy Richter talk about his time on Dancing with the Stars. He described the training as being incredibly intense – he even said it was ‘borderline abuse’! It’s hard to imagine going through that, especially when he needed ice packs and injections just to keep practicing. Even with all that, he still managed to make hilarious TikToks, which is amazing. It just goes to show how physically demanding the show is, particularly for someone his age. It really made me think about the toll it takes on the contestants’ bodies.
It’s always fun when a new season of Dancing With the Stars begins, but it’s probably a relief for the professional dancers and celebrities to return to their normal lives when it’s over. I imagine Zac Efron might take a break from reality TV for a while to spend time with his dog.
