Being a passionate admirer of both romantic comedies and sports movies, my enthusiasm knows no bounds when I stumbled upon the news about “Winter Games,” an Olympic-themed rom-com starring Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Teller. To top it off, Steinfeld’s real-life romance with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen adds a layer of authenticity that makes the upcoming movie even more enticing. Not only is he incredibly supportive of her career, but he also played a crucial role in the release of “Sinners.” Therefore, when I suggest that Josh Allen should have a cameo in “Winter Games,” it’s not merely a desire; it’s a necessity!

What We Know About Winter Games

Under the guidance of director Paul Downs Colaizzo, known for “Brittany Runs A Marathon”, and with these two experienced actors on board, I must confess my expectations are running high for the upcoming film titled “Winter Games”. This heightened anticipation is further fueled by the intriguing synopsis I recently came across in The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie centers on the intense world of the Winter Olympics, featuring an overlooked skier and a struggling hockey star who meet at their critical junctures. This unforeseen bond jeopardizes her medal hopes and his comeback attempt as they maneuver through love and redemption within the Olympic Village.

I find it intriguing that this seems to follow the enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy trope, which is my favorite. Plus, it’s also a double underdog sports story! That combination has me really excited. This movie could potentially be among the greatest rom-coms ever made in my opinion, but we’ll have to wait and see.

As an eager fan, I’m not holding my breath for this anticipated film to make it to the 2025 movie lineup. Yet, with the XXV Winter Olympics gearing up for their grand entrance on our screens in 2026, live from Italy, it seems like next year would be an ideal moment for the premiere of this original fictional masterpiece.

It would also give them plenty of time to figure out a part for Josh Allen…

How Josh Allen Could Cameo

Josh Allen, without a doubt, possesses a striking presence that could easily translate to the silver screen; he and Steinfeld make quite an attractive duo. Although Josh Allen has no acting experience, it’s plausible he could make a guest appearance. After all, consider Travis Kelce, who recently made his acting debut in “Grotesquerie” last year and is set to appear in the upcoming “Happy Gilmore 2”. Much like Kelce, Allen has been compared to due to their high-profile relationships – with Taylor Swift and an actress from Dickinson, respectively. Given that Kelce has already ventured into acting, it wouldn’t be surprising if he offered Josh some tips for a potential cameo in “Winter Games”.

Since American football isn’t included in the Olympic Games, especially the winter edition, the Bills quarterback can’t participate. However, being an athlete, he could certainly benefit from his background in intense competition to become a competitor in the Winter Olympics. Also, having resided in Buffalo, New York for seven years, he’s familiar with snow and ice conditions. It’s possible that he might be Teller’s teammate or even a hockey player whom Steinfeld’s character competes against to stir up jealousy in the The Gorge actor.

I’d like to emphasize that at this moment, Paramount Pictures hasn’t mentioned any connection between Allen and the upcoming film. The recent casting news solely featured the actress from Arcane. Given that the 2025-2026 NFL season kicks off in September and continues through February, it’s highly probable that, should he be cast, the football player might find himself too engrossed in his professional commitments to be present during filming.
