I Liked Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari And Seth Rogen’s New Movie OK, But I’m Shook By Its Rotten Tomatoes Score

I recently saw Aziz Ansari’s film, *Good Fortune*, and it really took me by surprise. Given the comedic talents of Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Ansari, I expected a straightforward comedy, but it was quite different. The movie is surprisingly somber at times and tackles serious issues like the lack of affordable housing, corruption in business, and the gap between the rich and poor. While some of these themes worked well, others felt a bit heavy-handed. Overall, the movie has been getting a lot of unexpected reactions from critics.

The movie actually got off to a great start – like Keanu Reeves’ character Ted would say, it was “excellent”! Before the weekend even began, early reviews on Rotten Tomatoes showed it was well-liked, with over 80% positive. Now, with even more reviews counted, it’s settled at a solid 78% approval rating from critics.

What surprised me most was that critics and audiences actually agree on this one! Good Fortune is a rare example where they both seem to love it.

Critics And Audiences Both Agree On Good Fortune

As of today, the movie *Good Fortune* has a 78% approval rating from critics, and surprisingly, also a 78% rating from general audiences. This is unusual! Often, movies praised by critics aren’t as popular with everyday viewers. Conversely, many fun, lighthearted, and sometimes expensive movies that critics dislike actually do very well with people who go to the theater.

It’s common to see truly awful movies that everyone dislikes, and occasionally, a film comes along that both critics and audiences love – like *Inside Out 2* or *Weapons* earlier this year. But it’s surprisingly rare for a movie to simply be considered “good” by almost everyone.

It’s common to see big differences in opinion between movie critics and general audiences. A recent example is *The Conjuring: Last Rites*, which received a 58% approval rating from critics (though our own review was positive). Interestingly, audiences enjoyed it much more, giving it a 78% approval rating – the same as the film *Good Fortune* at the time of this writing. People have different expectations when they go to the movies, so it’s unusual for everyone to agree on whether a movie is good.

As a big fan, I’m a little surprised *Good Fortune* hasn’t sparked more debate. Honestly, I think it’s less about the movie itself and more about how much the audience already *liked* the comedians involved. It feels like people were predisposed to enjoy it, which probably explains why it’s sitting at a solid 78% rather than an even higher score like 88% or 90%.

Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari, and Seth Rogen’s movie, *Good Fortune*, received positive reviews, which is great news. The film tells the story of a fallen angel, a gig worker, and a rich businessman who switch lives. While I wasn’t a huge fan myself, it’s wonderful to see people enjoying a funny movie in theaters. Hopefully, that enthusiasm will also bring in ticket sales.
