In my line of work, which involves exploring theme parks, I eagerly take every opportunity to visit them as frequently as time allows. On days when I’m not there, I find myself yearning to be. Today, with Disneyland celebrating its 70th anniversary, my excitement peaked since Disney+ now offers over a dozen “POV” videos of various attractions and locations within the park for subscribers to immerse themselves in. Even if I can’t physically ride these attractions, being able to hear the music and see everything they offer makes me feel like I’m part of the experience.
The very first thing I did this morning was [describe action]. In general, the new point-of-view (POV) experiences are well-done, but when I was on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, it felt incredibly realistic because the attraction wasn’t running at full capacity.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Audio-Animatronics Are Not Fully Functional On Disney+
It’s quite normal for theme park rides to have occasional issues, with animatronics or other effects malfunctioning from time to time. Yet, I was surprised to discover that even the point-of-view experience streamed directly on Disney+ encountered problems, which wasn’t something I had anticipated.
During the grand finale party scene, Tiana’s audio-animatronic seems stationary, despite giving the impression that her eyes and mouth are in motion. However, it’s expected that her arms and body would also be moving dynamically, which they aren’t. The camera angle subtly shifts to divert focus from this inconsistency.
The audio-animatronics in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, found at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, are often perceived as unreliable, with frequent instances where some of them fail to function during the ride. It seems surprising, given these issues, that this perspective was still shared through this medium.
Another Disney Parks POV Got Fixed Before The Ride-Through Went Live
Last month, on May the Fourth, I was thrilled to discover the addition of Disney Parks POV features to Disney+, with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance being one of them. The attraction’s large cannons, which had been out of order for quite some time, were mysteriously fixed just before its streaming debut. It’s hard not to suspect that this wasn’t just a coincidence!
Despite receiving the same level of attention, Tiana was unfortunately overlooked. Frankly, it’s quite frustrating to observe. Regardless of its occasional imperfections, Tiana remains an enjoyable ride; however, it truly shines when all parts are working seamlessly as designed.
After experiencing Disneyland’s latest and most remarkable Walt Disney audio-animatronic, I can vouch for their incredible potential. I truly hope that they will eventually upgrade this figure with a functional Tiana, although I’m not sure if it will be ready during my next visit.
