The recent release of new Mega Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has inspired a wave of new content for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The game is gradually adding these latest Mega Evolutions through a series of expansions. The first collection, Ascended Heroes, featured some highly sought-after cards. Now, a new expansion is on the way, continuing the Mega Evolution theme. I was lucky enough to get an early look at the Mega Evolution – Perfect Order products and had the chance to open 55 packs from the set for review.
In my review, I found that Perfect Order is a pretty standard set. It has some beautiful Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, and a good mix of cards overall. However, it doesn’t have a lot of the powerful ‘ex’ cards or highly sought-after chase cards that typically excite collectors and Pokemon TCG players. That said, there are still some cards worth looking for! I also did some calculations based on my own card pulls to estimate the odds of getting rarer cards in Perfect Order.
Estimated Pull Rates for Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution – Perfect Order

The new Perfect Order set, including booster packs, display boxes, and Elite Trainer Boxes, will be available in stores on March 27th. Pre-release events with Build & Battle boxes will begin on March 14th. I recently had a chance to preview the set and opened 55 boosters from the Perfect Order lineup.
I didn’t get as many rare or valuable cards in this set as I did with Ascended Heroes, even though I opened a few more packs. I did love some of the cute artwork on the Illustration Rares I found! However, overall, the chances of getting good cards seem lower in this set. I’ll share exactly how many ‘ex’ cards, new Mega cards, and full-art cards I pulled so you can get a better idea of the pull rates.
This is based on my own experience, and the actual odds of getting each card type might change as more people open packs. However, it should give us a general idea of how rare each card appears to be in this set.
ex Pull Rates

I opened 55 packs of cards and found 14 ‘ex’ cards, meaning I had a little over a 25% chance of getting an ex card in each pack. This rate is a bit lower than average for newer sets in the Scarlet & Violet series. I also didn’t get a lot of variety, as I pulled several copies of the same ex cards.
Getting a full-art ex card is really difficult. I only found two in all the packs I opened – a Starmie ex and a Clefable ex. This means your chances of getting one of these rare cards are about 1 in 27.
New Legends Z-A Mega Pull Rates

The new Pokemon Legends: Z-A expansion includes several new Mega Pokemon. The Perfect Order set within it features ex cards for Mega Clefable, Mega Starmie, Mega Skarmory, and Mega Zygarde. I was lucky enough to pull at least one ex card for each of these new Mega Pokemon after opening 55 packs, along with a few extra cards.
I opened 55 packs and found 8 Legends Z-A Megas. That means there’s about a 1 in 7 chance of getting one. While that’s not bad, I got a lot of duplicates, so collecting all the new Megas might be difficult.
Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare, and Ultra Rare Pull Rates

Although the pull rates for this set weren’t great, finding Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares still felt really good. The set has a lot of amazing card designs, and I was happy with what I got. However, does the actual value of my pulls match how good it felt opening the packs? Here’s what I pulled from 55 packs:
- 6 Illustration Rares
- 3 Ultra Rares
- 1 Special Illustration Rare
This means you have about a 1 in 9 chance of getting an Illustration Rare, a 1 in 18 chance for an Ultra Rare, and around a 1 in 55 chance for a Special Illustration Rare. Illustration Rares are noticeably easier to find than usual, as we’ve typically seen rates of about 1 in 12. Ultra Rares are slightly harder to get than average, but Special Illustration Rares seem particularly rare based on my experience.
I didn’t pull the most rare card in the set. Since there’s only one Mega Zygarde Hyper Rare available, it’s likely to be very hard to find.
Generally, Perfect Order has slightly lower pull rates than most sets, though the chance of getting a standard Illustration Rare is surprisingly good. Considering how beautiful those Illustration Rares are, it’s great that many players should be able to get their hands on them. However, the odds of pulling the rarer Chase Cards seem pretty low, based on my experience.
