As an analyst covering the Goat Simulator series, what’s always struck me is its commitment to embracing absolutely any idea, no matter how silly. If a joke comes to mind for the developers, or is suggested by players, it almost always makes its way into the game. They really don’t seem to have a filter when it comes to content!
The new ‘Baadlands: Furry Road’ DLC for Goat Simulator 3 is available today on Xbox, and it takes the game’s chaotic energy to a whole new level. Players will launch Pilgor into a vast, lawless wasteland on a super-charged bike, where anything goes – and safety standards are definitely not a priority.
Imagine Mad Max and Fallout, but with crazed goats—that’s Baadlands. After playing it with the developers and then watching my five-year-old enjoy it for hours, it’s obvious this game takes the silly, ‘anything goes’ spirit of Goat Simulator to a whole new level. It’s even bigger and more ridiculous than the Multiverse of Nonsense DLC, and that’s saying something!
San Angora has gone full sand-pocalypse

The world has been destroyed, leaving San Angora as a dangerous, sun-baked desert filled with bandits, radioactive areas, and surprisingly intelligent plants. Pilgor, a charming goat, is unexpectedly thrust into the role of a hero – though he mostly solves problems by headbutting things, so ‘hero’ might be a stretch.
Baadlands offers a huge, open world where you can scavenge for materials, restore a town, and uncover hidden mysteries. It’s the most expansive game in the series, not because it’s aiming for realism, but because the developers are constantly finding new ways for players to cause delightful chaos.
A wasteland of horrors and fusion cookery

I first realized this game was going to be wonderfully strange during our first quest in the main town of the Baadlands. We discovered a pizza oven, but it wasn’t ordinary. This oven lets you put *anything* on your pizza. I even jokingly asked if it could make a pizza with goat on it.
The developers weren’t certain it would work, but we decided to give it a shot. A few minutes later, after making a copy of myself using an old and questionable cloning machine, we found out it was possible!
Absolutely, you can create a pizza topped with goat! Expect your goat friends to be appropriately horrified and feel utterly betrayed. The game’s creators even showed me a level featuring a village filled with strange, monstrous fruits and vegetables – they’re related to the well-known Abominana character.
As an analyst, I have to say the game’s planting system is remarkably open-ended. You can grow almost anything – I’ve seen broccoli, even irradiated tomatoes, and, believe it or not, people are apparently planting petrol cans! Naturally, my first thought was to push the boundaries. I decided to grow pineapples with a specific, slightly evil, goal in mind: creating the ultimate culinary war crime – goat *and* pineapple pizza. And the game not only allowed it, but encouraged it! It was surprisingly enthusiastic about the combination, or ‘goats-to’ as I started calling it.
Goat Simulator is at its most fun and creative here. It’s a game where even the silliest ideas actually happen, thanks to its flexible and reactive systems.
A harsher wasteland but with new toys to fight back

The characters you meet in the wasteland are much more likely to attack than in the original game. Instead of just standing around, enemies like raiders and those affected by radiation will actively fight. This makes the world feel more dangerous and responsive, and it’s much more rewarding when you find new items for your goat!
I especially loved finding boots that create quicksand whirlpools, letting you pull enemies down into the ground. The game also has areas warped by radiation where bizarre, extra limbs grow, which really adds to the unsettling, Fallout-inspired atmosphere of Baadlands.
You also get a summonable motorcycle – a somewhat rusty but reliable machine you can instantly create with a special whistle. It’s amusing to watch a goat ride it, and while the handling takes some getting used to, you can improve it by upgrading your wasteland camp. This unlocks garages and other locations where you can customize your ride.
You can ride a sandworm, because of course.

If you thought a goat riding a motorcycle was absurd, the game Baadlands takes it even further. I actually got to ride a giant sandworm and declare myself the ‘Voice of the Goat’ to the desert. It was utterly ridiculous, and perfectly summed up the over-the-top silliness of Goat Simulator in one unforgettable moment.
This downloadable content is full of strange secrets, new missions, unique outfits for the wasteland, and so many jokes you won’t find them all at once.

Goat Simulator isn’t really made for children, but my five-year-old son loves it! He’s played over 220 hours of the games, both by himself and with others. It gives him the same kind of free-form, silly fun he enjoys in games like Minecraft and Wobbly Life.
Luckily, he’s usually laughing so much he doesn’t even notice any questionable language from the characters. Seeing him play the early version and get excited about the new features – especially the jetpack – made me eager to play again when it came out on Xbox today. We tried it on Steam first, and it ran great on the Xbox ROG Ally X, even when he managed to create 50 copies of himself (which, honestly, added to the fun!).
He doesn’t worry about the story or the jokes the game makes. He just wants to ride a worm and knock enemies off cliffs, and the new ‘Baadlands’ version lets him do that and much more.
Final thoughts
Baadlands: Furry Road doesn’t try to change what makes Goat Simulator 3 fun – and that’s a good thing. Instead, it builds on what fans already enjoy, offering even more ridiculousness, freedom, and the chance to experiment with crazy ideas. The game almost always lets you get away with it, too!
If you were hoping for a more expansive and exciting installment, you’ve got it! Get ready to lose yourself in the wasteland and have a blast for hours.
