In the year 2025, through the series ‘Andor’, Star Wars introduced a mystery that might be best left unexplored. Since the original trilogy, mysteries have been an integral part of the Star Wars universe due to George Lucas’ intricate world-building and mythology. Occasionally, we receive answers to questions we didn’t even know existed, such as discovering Luke Skywalker’s true father. These revelations, along with occasional retcons, have given us both memorable high points and moments of divisive controversy within the franchise. The mystery presented by ‘Andor’ is one that should arguably remain unsolved.
Towards the close of Andor Season 2, an unexpected revelation unfolds: Cassian Andor has an unknown child with Bix Caleen, the reason she departed from him and the Rebellion. Instead of revealing this earlier in their story as in Rogue One, it serves as a stunning twist to the superior Star Wars TV series. Although it leaves room for potential future explorations (the child’s identity and fate), dwelling on these details could potentially diminish the emotional impact of the current narrative.
Cassian & Bix’s Child Shouldn’t Return After Andor

The surprising appearance of baby shared by characters Bix and Cassian in the series finale is not only a significant plot twist, but an emotionally moving and poignant way to conclude the show, ranking among my favorite endings across the entire franchise. This scene beautifully reshapes and intensifies the self-sacrifice of Cassian: we were aware that his fate was sealed on Scarif, and the series Andor provided additional depth to this understanding, but here it becomes heartrendingly tragic. He sacrificed himself for a child he never knew existed, in order to build a better world. Similarly, Bix made the selfless choice to step away from the conflict and protect her loved one, all for the sake of their unborn child.
Essentially, their kid embodies a beacon of hope – symbolizing an optimistic tomorrow, the triumph of goodness over adversity, and the resilience of light to conquer the shadows. Reliving this moment in any form seems to dilute its power for me. It’s not about introducing a fresh space saga hero whose exploits we’ll chronicle; they’re not a character like Poe Dameron or anyone else familiar to us.
In a world filled with hatred, their love managed to flourish and create a child, born from sacrifices many found unimaginable. This child serves as the culmination of Cassian and Bix’s journey, tying together the larger themes of the story and franchise. Reintroducing this character, either in a Rebel Alliance TV show set during the original trilogy or in the New Republic era where he carries on his father’s legacy, risks undermining the emotional, narrative, and thematic impact it now holds, turning it from a powerful conclusion into mere setup.
Will Star Wars Bring Back Bix & Cassian’s Kid?

Star Wars isn’t always bound by what it shouldn’t do; it has a history of bringing back characters, even minor ones, during both pre-Disney and Disney eras. These characters often get fleshed out with their own stories, and if there’s an opportunity to explore them further in other media, it usually happens. This approach has led to some fantastic tales, but also some misses. Given this trend, it wouldn’t be unexpected for Bix and Cassian’s son to resurface somewhere down the line.
Instead of saying, “After all, Andor is one of the crowning achievements of Disney Star Wars,” you could phrase it as, “Indeed, Andor stands out as one of Disney’s most impressive contributions to the Star Wars universe.”
Instead of, “
Instead of, “It’s a true heavyweight prestige drama, the likes of which Disney does not have with Star Wars, Marvel, or much else for that matter,” you could write, “Andor boasts a level of prestigious drama rarely seen in the Star Wars, Marvel, or other Disney productions.”
Instead of, “And while the show always had a defined endgame because of Rogue One, that doesn’t mean every part of it does,” you can rephrase as, “Though Andor has a clearly established end-point due to Rogue One, it does not imply that each segment is self-contained.
In a potential continuation of the Andor series, whether as a TV show, comic book, novel, or another format, there are numerous characters whose narratives could be further developed. For instance, we’re left wondering what becomes of Kleya, and Bix with her child is another character whose story might continue. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if discussions about continuing these stories have already taken place (it would actually be more unexpected if they hadn’t).
It’s quite possible that something unexpected occurs, and even the creator of Andor, Tony Gilroy, acknowledges this. In a recent conversation at the Television Academy’s Televerse Festival (as reported by Gold Derby), he stated: ” frankly, it doesn’t bother me when I can inform Bob Iger about a potential surprise, and he can give it any name or gender he prefers.
Reflecting honestly, I must remind myself that initially, there was no enthusiasm for a prequel to Rogue One featuring Cassian Andor. Frankly, it didn’t seem promising; not even close to becoming one of the best Star Wars productions ever. However, given that few things possess the brilliance of Tony Gilroy’s mind, and lightning seldom strikes twice, it’s probably unwise to expect such greatness again. Instead, we may be faced with a scenario where the benefits no longer outweigh the potential drawbacks.
All episodes of Andor are now streaming on Disney+.
