I Rewatched KPop Demon Hunters In Theaters For The Sing-Along Event, And Now It’s My Favorite Big Screen Experience This Year

As someone deeply passionate about films, the lineup of movies set to release in 2025 has been particularly exciting, featuring Ryan Coogler’s vampire film titled “Sinners“, as well as standout cinematic adventures like “Companion“, “The Life Of Chuck“, and “Materialists“. However, attending the sing-along event for “KPop Demon Hunters” in theaters this week has shown me that there is one movie I’ve enjoyed the most by sharing the experience with an audience. It’s incredible how a film that I could just as easily watch at home with my Netflix subscription can create such a unique, memorable feeling.

Seeing KPop Demon Hunters In Theaters Proved To Me How Much Of A Crowd-Pleaser It Is

In June, when Sony Animation’s film joined Netflix’s 2025 releases, I had no intention of watching it. However, once I heard good things about it, I decided to give it a try from my couch. To my delight, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie! My initial thought was that it was an uncommon heartwarming film that executed familiar storylines skillfully while introducing something novel and exciting, which made it a refreshing experience compared to other films I’ve watched. It brought out the child in me in the best way possible, making me realize instantly that it would become my go-to comfort movie. Additionally, this movie surpassed many Netflix records, earning it the title of the No. 2 original from the streaming platform overall.

Earlier this week, I attended what could have been the initial KPop Demon Hunters sing-along at Netflix headquarters in Hollywood, California, accompanied by friends. My friend who had watched it over eight times donned an impressive Zoey costume, while my other companion was relatively unfamiliar with it. Both of them enjoyed the film immensely on the big screen, with me sitting between them. What particularly struck me was the sheer joy of watching the movie in a theater due to its humor and entertainment value. It had been quite some time since I watched a well-loved film in theaters, and the enthusiasm for it was palpable.

Audience members gasped, especially during the unfolding of Rumi’s compelling narrative, as I found myself amused by the audience members who recited lines along with the performance. In our screening, a child knew every word spoken by Healer Han, which left me in fits of laughter at the adorable spectacle.

And Singing Along To The Movie In A Theater Only Underlines The Movie’s Messages

Instead of anticipating any apprehension about the sing-along aspect of KPop Demon Hunters, I can confidently endorse it, especially for those who usually prefer watching movies without excessive dialogue. Interestingly, this interactive element creates an immersive experience reminiscent of a HUNTR/X or Saja Boys concert due to its focus on fan and audience engagement, which is integral to the film itself.

Not only is it enjoyable to synchronize with the song lyrics while watching, whether you’re already familiar with them, learning them, or discovering them for the first time alongside a movie, but I found myself grooving along to the music throughout most of the tracks together with my friends and singing along to what I knew. The song that resonated with me the most was “What It Sounds Like”, creating an incredibly emotional and impactful moment. Given that this film centers around discovering one’s voice to share love and happiness with others, it makes for a fitting way to engage with the music in this manner as well.

I must say, I had an absolutely fantastic time at the theater this year, and I might even head back there this weekend if my schedule permits. Coincidentally, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is playing across North America, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand this weekend! So why not grab some tickets through Fandango while they’re still available?
