A significant portion of the discussion leading up to the highly anticipated return of Peacemaker‘s Season 2 focused on the “Previously On…” segment, which notably rewrote the Justice League out of the DCU and introduced the Justice Gang’s Green Lantern and Hawkgirl instead. This was an engaging method to present James Gunn’s fresh take on this universe, or universes, as appropriate. The second episode delved further into the consequences of murder in an alternate dimension, with Peacemaker enlisting Vigilante’s aid to cut up and dispose of Chris 2.0’s remains.
In the multiverse hub room, as the two characters concluded their secretive plan, Peacemaker received an unexpected visit from an alien being – the Kyphotic Alien, as mentioned in the credits. This encounter brought one of the episode’s most humorous lines and hinted at a potential significant future event regarding the red-eyed creature that is not quite humanoid in appearance (those eyes certainly suggest that, don’t they?).

Peacemaker’s A+ Description For His Alien Neighbor
That’s an alien you just antagonized.
It’s just some RUDE MOTHERFUCKER who I say hi to EVERY time, and NEVER says hi back!
At first glance, this scene appears humorous, showcasing the vigilante hero’s stress and unexpected concern for the etiquette of beings from disparate realms. Using a profanity like “motherfucker” aligns with Gunn’s style of humor, making it seem like a brief, careless remark. But…
However, upon deeper analysis, this moment reveals a more complex layer. The use of such language suggests that despite the alien’s alienness, the hero perceives some level of relatability or common ground, indicating a surprising empathy. This empathic connection, hidden beneath the humor, adds depth to both the character and the narrative.

I Think That Moment (And The Opening Dance Number) Are Hinting At Something Major Happening With The Alien
In simpler terms, it seems this mysterious alien character, who’s quite unlike anything we’ve seen before, is likely to play a significant role in the storyline as he was introduced fairly early on in the season. His recurring appearance in two consecutive episodes further strengthens the idea that his character will have a lasting impact.
It remains uncertain whether the upcoming revelation will be connected to the aliens’ apparent disinterest in initiating contact or greetings.
A subtle clue about the upcoming plotline of the alien character is found in its role as one of the dancers in the opening sequence. While there may not be many similar instances to reference, it’s plausible to think that Peacemaker wouldn’t have this costume actor do all that work if the character wasn’t significant in some manner. Granted, some minor characters appear during the climax, but Mr. Kyphotic (my catchy new nickname for it) is introduced earlier than that.

Will The Alien Cause Trouble For Peacemaker, Or Will He Be An Ally?
Given the alien’s arrival timing, it seems plausible that Mr. Kyphotic might no longer be a concern for the two fire-powered heroes, as the alien may have found damning evidence against them. However, it’s best to disregard this line of thought since it’s difficult to envision how such a scenario could unfold. If this extraterrestrial were to enter either Earthly dimension, it would likely be met with immediate harm, making any testimony against Peacemaker unlikely.
While the alien could potentially mobilize a posse from its own universe to pursue justice for Peacemaker, let’s assume that doesn’t happen in this scenario.
I prefer thinking that the extraterrestrial might contribute something beneficial to the narrative. Perhaps it can communicate telepathically and has been trying to communicate “hello” to Peacemaker without realizing it wasn’t understood. Maybe it could prevent Peacemaker from re-entering the alternate dimension during a crucial moment. It’s also possible that its pet might form some sort of connection with Eagly.
Despite any turn of events, the alien doesn’t necessarily have to perform grand feats for the narrative, but it seems unlikely that James Gunn & Co. included such a quirky character merely for a few humorous moments and a brief appearance in the introductory scene.
Initially, let me clarify that what follows is a depiction of a different Batman, belonging to another universe, rather than our familiar version of the character. I stand corrected if there’s any confusion on this point.
