TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, has suggested that the often-criticized sex scenes from earlier God of War games might be included in the new PS5 version being developed by Santa Monica Studio.
People have been talking a lot about this since the updated versions came out. Many found them awkward when they were first released, and they might seem even more dated now.
The original God of War trilogy for PlayStation contained sexual content in the form of optional minigames. These scenes involved Kratos having intimate encounters with several female characters, famously including the goddess Aphrodite in God of War 3.
The games frequently present these moments with humor, like showing a pot rattling or, as seen before, with onlookers commenting on Kratos’ actions.
The story feels a little far-fetched, especially considering it’s set in ancient Greece, known for its open attitudes. There’s been a lot of discussion about whether these events will be included in newer versions of the tale.
Well, while actor TC Carson sure hasn’t confirmed anything, he has given us our biggest hint yet.
When asked if the minigames would make a comeback, the developer responded playfully, “I think so,” hinting at a likely return.
The interviewer tried to get a definitive answer, announcing what felt like a big reveal, but TC Carson simply repeated his previous, tentative statement – “I think so.” While not a clear confirmation, it hints that they plan to come back.
It will be interesting to see how Santa Monica Studio adjusts these elements. They were already quite childish, so the challenge will be to refine them without making them overly dark or gritty.
The original God of War games all had a distinct feel, and the developers are facing a challenge. Changing the formula too much could upset fans, but sticking too closely to the past might make the new games feel outdated.
A recent poll on Push Square revealed that 70% of readers want to keep the original sex minigames as they are, indicating a strong preference against removing them.
