I’ve been using Redmagic’s 4K mini-LED gaming monitor for almost a year and have been really happy with it. However, I’ve been wanting to try an OLED monitor – most of my other devices use OLED screens – so when KTC offered me a chance to test their new 240Hz monitor, I jumped at the opportunity.

KTC is a relatively unknown Chinese brand, but they’re quickly becoming more popular with a growing range of products. Their G27P6S is a 27-inch monitor with a fast 240Hz refresh rate and a sharp 1440p resolution. It uses a high-quality LG WOLED panel – the same technology found in many LG gaming monitors.

At $499, the G27P6S is significantly more affordable than most other OLED monitors currently available, making it a great option if you’re thinking about upgrading.

KTC G27P6S: Price and availability

KTC released its G27P6S OLED monitor in late 2024, and it’s now available worldwide. You can find it on Amazon in the U.S. for $499, after applying a $100 coupon, making it a great deal for its excellent screen quality. Like other KTC monitors, the G27P6S comes with a standard three-year warranty that covers burn-in.

KTC G27P6S: What I like

As an analyst, I’ve spent the last six months testing the G27P6S, and its design definitely stands out. The monitor comes with a solid metal stand – the base felt particularly stable during my testing. It’s also quite adjustable; you can raise or lower it by 11cm, swivel it ±15 degrees, tilt it from -5 to +20 degrees, and even rotate it 90 degrees into portrait mode if that suits your needs.

As a tech enthusiast, one of the first things that really caught my eye with this monitor is just how sleek it looks. The bezels are super thin – way thinner than most monitors I’ve seen – which gives it an incredible 92.9% screen-to-body ratio. It’s really immersive! Plus, they’ve gotten rid of the bulky chin you often find at the bottom, making it look even more refined. It doesn’t have a flashy RGB zone on the back, but the logo does light up subtly if you want a little glow.

The G27P6S offers good connectivity options, including DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and a USB-C port that supports both video display and 65W power delivery. It also features a convenient built-in KVM switch, letting you control two computers with a single keyboard and mouse. Additionally, you’ll find a 3.5mm audio jack and two USB-A 3.0 ports.

You can use a joystick on the back of the monitor to control the on-screen display. This lets you change things like picture settings, color options, and features that help prevent screen burn-in. The menus are simple to use with the joystick, and I found it easy to navigate.

The LG G27P6S monitor boasts a stunning LG WOLED panel that delivers exceptional picture quality right out of the box, with minimal need for color adjustments. Gaming on this monitor is a pleasure thanks to its quick response times and incredibly deep blacks, and it performs just as well as more expensive options. While it doesn’t get as bright as LCD monitors – and the anti-glare matte finish slightly dims the screen – this isn’t noticeable during normal use.

Overall, the G27P6S is a great entry point into OLED monitors, offering a high-quality LG panel, good initial settings, and a very competitive price, making OLED technology more accessible.

KTC G27P6S: What I don’t like

The only downside to the G27P6S monitor is some slight blurring around the edges of text. As a first-time OLED user, I didn’t expect this to be so noticeable. The way the monitor’s pixels are arranged-using RGBW-causes a shadow effect on text, which can make it harder to use for work or other productivity tasks.

If you mainly play games and are looking for an OLED monitor, the G27P6S is a fantastic option. However, if you also need a monitor for work or other tasks beyond gaming, a mini-LED monitor would be a better fit.

KTC G27P6S: The alternatives

The MSI MAG 272QP is a good choice if you’re considering the G27P6S. It features a vibrant QD-OLED display with improved text clarity, a super-fast 500Hz refresh rate, and all the features gamers look for. However, it comes with a higher price tag of $749.

If you like WOLED displays, the LG 27GS95QE is worth a look. It offers many of the same benefits as the G27P6S, like a 27-inch screen with a fast 240Hz refresh rate at 1440p resolution, and similar ports. The picture quality is also very close to the G27P6S, but it costs $200 more at $699.

The G27P6S is a truly impressive monitor. Its OLED screen delivers a fantastic gaming experience. While it doesn’t get as bright as some LCD monitors, I didn’t notice any problems during use. The vibrant and accurate colors more than compensate for this, making the G27P6S a standout choice for OLED gaming.

I struggled to use this monitor for work that involves a lot of reading and writing. The screen technology causes text to appear slightly fuzzy around the edges, and while software can help reduce this, it’s still noticeable. Because of this, I couldn’t use it as my primary monitor and switched back to a mini-LED display for work, reserving the monitor for gaming instead.

If you want a great OLED gaming monitor that doesn’t break the bank, the G27P6S is currently the best choice. It offers top-of-the-line picture quality from LG’s OLED technology, and includes features you’d normally only find on much more expensive models. The biggest advantage of this monitor is how much you get for your money.
