I’ve been a fan of Olivia Swann for a while now, ever since she played Astra Logue on *Legends of Tomorrow*. It was such a shame when that show ended after seven seasons, especially with that huge cliffhanger at the end! I know the whole cast was really disappointed. But recently, I read an interview with Olivia on TopMob where she talked about how she dealt with the cancellation, and it was really interesting to hear what helped her move forward. Now, of course, I’m loving her as Michelle Mackey on *NCIS: Sydney*, which just started its third season – she’s fantastic!
Following a conversation about *NCIS: Sydney* – including potential crossovers with the original *NCIS* and fan interest in a relationship between Mackey and JD (played by Todd Lasance) – I ended my interview with Olivia Swann by asking about her reaction to the 2022 cancellation of *Legends of Tomorrow*. She explained that the news wasn’t a complete surprise, stating:
I was definitely upset when the show was canceled, but enough time had passed since Season 7 ended that we’d all kind of accepted it wasn’t great news. Still, I’ll always remember working on Legends as an amazing experience. I learned a ton, worked with incredibly kind and talented people, and they showed me how to stay positive and enthusiastic even during long shoots.
The seventh season of *Legends of Tomorrow* finished airing on March 2, 2022, and The CW canceled the show about two months later. Around the same time, *Batwoman* was also canceled, and in 2023, *The Flash* ended after nine seasons, effectively bringing the Arrowverse to a close. However, Olivia Swann revealed that she and the rest of the cast suspected a cancellation was likely even before Season 8 was discussed.
Unfortunately, we won’t find out what happened to the Legends after their arrest by the Time Police, including Donald Faison’s character, who turned out to be Booster Gold. However, Olivia Swann really enjoyed her experience on *Legends of Tomorrow* and is grateful for how the show helped her career.
My time on Legends was an incredible learning experience. It was where I really learned how to perform in front of a camera and let my imagination run wild. Those three years were some of the most fun I’ve ever had, and I’m so thankful for how it helped launch my career. I honestly don’t think I’d be where I am today without it, and I’ll always cherish that show.
Legends of Tomorrow was the third series created within The Arrowverse, building on storylines from both Arrow and The Flash. Olivia Swann first appeared as Astra Logue in Season 4, becoming a main character for the rest of the show. Her character started as a villain – a young girl sent to Hell by John Constantine who later regretted his decision – but eventually became a hero and joined the team. In the final season, Astra also developed a romantic relationship with her teammate, Behrad Tarazi.
If you enjoyed Olivia Swann’s work on *Legends of Tomorrow*, good news – you can rewatch the series on Netflix. But if you’re looking for something new, she’s currently starring in *NCIS: Sydney*, which airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Eastern on CBS. And if you miss it, episodes are later added to Paramount+ for streaming.
