A new photo has been shared for the upcoming movie, Frank and Percy, featuring Ian McKellen and Roger Allam. They’re both returning to play the same characters they performed in the West End stage show.
The photo shows the two actors sitting on a park bench, smiling at each other. They’re each with a dog on a leash.
The movie tells the story of two elderly men who become friends after meeting while walking their dogs in Hampstead Heath.
The film starts with simple talk about everyday things, like the weather and getting older, but blossoms into a surprising friendship – and maybe even a romance. It’s been described as both amusing and deeply touching, a story that celebrates life and leaves you feeling good.
Along with the first look at the new image, a fantastic group of actors has joined the cast, including Peter Davison from Doctor Who, Rob Brydon of Gavin & Stacey, and the renowned Dame Sheila Hancock.
Joining the cast are Felicity Kendal, known from ‘The Good Life,’ Nitin Ganatra (‘Mr Bigstuff’), Peter Straker (‘Urban Gothic’), Amari Bacchus (‘Adolescence’), Hugh Skinner (‘W1A’), and the renowned dancer Wayne Sleep.
The show already boasts an incredible cast, with major stars like Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, Derek Jacobi, Sian Phillips, Ncuti Gatwa, and Jessica Gunning from ‘Baby Reindeer’ all signed on – meaning it’s packed with talent.
Martin Sherman, known for writing ‘Mrs. Henderson Presents’, penned the screenplay. Sean Mathias, who previously directed a successful stage adaptation that premiered at Windsor’s Theatre Royal in 2023 and then moved to London’s West End, is the film’s director.
We don’t have a release date for the project yet, but we’ll share any new information as soon as it’s available.
