I’ve heard that a new Ice Age movie is in development, which is exciting news for fans! It’s been about 11 years since the last film, Ice Age: Collision Course, and this one will continue the story. While many of the characters we know and love are returning, it sounds like we might be saying goodbye to one of them – apparently, a character was killed off before the new movie begins. We can expect to see it in theaters sometime in early 2027.
While most of the original actors are set to return for Ice Age: Boiling Point, Seann William Scott, who voiced Crash, hasn’t been asked to participate. He recently told The Direct that he only just learned about the new movie and suspects his character might be written out – possibly even killed off – since he hasn’t received any communication about it.
Ice Age Might Have Killed Off Crash Before Next Movie
When asked if he’d be back as Crash in Ice Age: Boiling Point, Scott said he hadn’t heard anything about it. He joked that if he hadn’t received any information by now, his character was likely going to be killed off, and added that the movie probably didn’t even need two small opossum characters—or require payment for their roles. While Scott was likely just teasing, his comments suggest he might not be returning as Crash.
I first met Crash and Eddie in Ice Age: The Meltdown, and I was surprised to see them pop up again in the recent Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild spinoff. Though, they did sound a little different – the characters were voiced by Vincent Tong and Aaron Harris this time around. It seems more probable that if they return in future installments, they’ll simply have new voice actors, rather than being written out of the story. It’s definitely something I’ll be watching for!
What to Know for Ice Age: Boiling Point
The sixth installment in the Ice Age series, Ice Age: Boiling Point, is set to release in theaters on February 5, 2027. Disney has previewed the film as a wild adventure involving dinosaurs and lava, taking Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd to unexplored and dangerous parts of the Lost World. The original voice actors – including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg – are all returning to reprise their roles.
It seems Scott hasn’t been asked to reprise his role in the new movie, based on his recent comments. The involvement of other actors who’ve appeared in the Ice Age films over the years is also still uncertain. However, with the movie scheduled to come out in 2027, we can expect more announcements soon.
