The popular sci-fi series Stargate is making a comeback! A brand-new installment is set to premiere on Prime Video.
Amazon MGM Studios has approved a new TV series based on the popular story that originally appeared in the 1994 film.
The Stargate series revolves around a special device – the Stargate – that can open a wormhole, enabling almost instant travel to different planets and across the universe.
I’m really excited about this new series! It’s being spearheaded by Martin Gero, a name I instantly recognized from his fantastic work on Stargate. He’s not just writing and producing, he’s completely running the show as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner – which tells me he has a very clear vision for it.
He recalled that his first professional television job, twenty years prior, was as a Story Editor for the show Stargate: Atlantis.

My five years with the Stargate franchise taught me the fundamentals of television production – it’s something I carry with me in everything I do.
He expressed his excitement and gratitude that Amazon MGM Studios chose him to lead the next chapter of this amazing franchise.
This is for our dedicated fans who’ve always believed in and enjoyed our story through events, re-watches, and unwavering support. And to everyone discovering our world for the first time – prepare to be amazed!
Fans of the original 1994 Stargate movie will be happy to hear that Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich—the team behind the first film—are returning as executive producers. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi are joining the project as consulting producers as well.
If you’re eager to get started, here’s the order to watch the Stargate series: first, see the original movie, then watch the TV shows Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and finally, Stargate Universe.
The cosmos awaits!
