Todd Howard from Bethesda has at last given us a timeframe for when we’ll hear news about a possible Starfield release on the PlayStation 5, something fans have been hoping for for years.
He didn’t mention Sony by name, but he did talk about an update his team has been developing. They actually showed a preview of it to journalists last year in a private event.
In an interview with Kinda Funny, he said:
We’re now at a point where we can discuss what’s next for Starfield. We’ve made significant progress and are very happy with the results. It’s not a sequel or a complete overhaul, despite some speculation. If you enjoyed the original Starfield, you’ll likely love these updates, which will fundamentally change how the game plays. However, if you weren’t a fan of Starfield before, these changes probably won’t change your mind.
It doesn’t seem like this will be a major overhaul of the game, despite earlier reports. However, releasing the PS5 version with these changes makes sense and should improve the overall experience.
Howard didn’t give a specific date for the announcement, but assured everyone it’s happening very soon. Previous speculation suggested it could be revealed in March and released in April, which fits with what he’s saying now.
It will be interesting to see how PlayStation players receive the game. While it was once predicted to be a huge success, it doesn’t have a very good reputation now.
