I’m really enjoying both *X-Men ’97* and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* right now. *X-Men ’97* brought back the story from the original *X-Men: The Animated Series*, and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* showed us a different take on Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney+ has ordered two more seasons of each show, and Brad Winderbaum, who heads up streaming, TV, and animation at Marvel Studios, recently shared some exciting news about what’s coming next for both series.
Currently, the second season of *X-Men ’97* isn’t expected until 2026. There’s also been talk that Season 2 of *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* might be ready next year, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed. The positive news is that future seasons of both shows won’t have such long delays between them, according to Winderbaum in an interview with DiscussingFilm.
The next few years look promising for animated Marvel fans! We’ll be getting new seasons of both X-Men ‘97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man every year, which allows the storytellers to plan out bigger, more complex narratives over time.
It’s now typical for streaming shows to have long gaps between seasons-over three years, for example, between seasons four and five of *Stranger Things*, which arrives in November. That’s why it’s reassuring to know that the next seasons of *X-Men ’97* and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* won’t have such a long wait. This makes sense, as Marvel Studios is already planning far in advance for these series.
As Brad Winderbaum mentioned, with both *X-Men ’97* and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* confirmed for at least two more seasons, it’s much simpler to plan out complex, ongoing storylines. I believe discussions are already happening about extending both shows even further. While I doubt we’ll get official confirmation before the end of 2025, I wouldn’t be shocked if Marvel announced Season 4 of *X-Men ’97* around the time Season 2 premieres. The same likely applies to Season 4 of *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* when its second season is released.

I’m so excited about Disney+! They’re streaming shows like *X-Men ’97* and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* that I can’t wait to watch. Right now, you can get a plan with ads for as little as $9.99 a month. If I want to skip the ads, it’s $15.99 a month, or I can save a bit by paying $159.99 for the whole year. I’m definitely checking out this deal!
Season 2 of *X-Men ’97* will pick up where the first season left off, showing what happens to heroes like Wolverine, Storm, and Morph after they’re scattered through time. We’ll see returning characters alongside new faces, including Havok, Lady Deathstrike, and Polaris (voiced by Neve Campbell). Meanwhile, Season 2 of *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* will continue storylines about Richard Parker being alive, Lonnie Lincoln becoming Tombstone, and Norman Osborn’s discovery of an alien symbiote. The season will also introduce Spider-Gwen, a version of Gwen Stacy.
We’ll share more news about *X-Men ’97* and *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* as soon as we have it. In the meantime, you can watch *Marvel Zombies*, the newest animated series from Marvel Studios, now on Disney+.
