Rachel Zegler, only 24 years old, has quickly become a well-known and talented actress in both theater and film. She first gained recognition for her role in the movie West Side Story (available on Disney+), and has since starred in big projects like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Hunger Games, and Disney’s live-action Snow White. Recently, she shared how she’s been handling criticism online.
The criticism aimed at the actress started when she spoke negatively about the upcoming animated Snow White film. It intensified further after she shared her political views on the conflict between Israel and Hamas. She recently discussed the constant online hate she receives in an interview with Glamour Magazine, explaining that:
I’ve become pretty unfazed by things lately – it doesn’t bother me as much anymore. I think we need to accept that it’s okay to not always be emotionally guarded. There’s this perception that people in the public eye aren’t allowed to have personal thoughts or feelings, like we’re just images for others to project onto.
It’s great to see her handling things so well. Constant criticism would be tough for anyone, especially someone in the public eye. But she doesn’t seem to be letting the negativity affect her – she’s just letting it roll off her, which is really healthy.

Disney+ now offers a plan starting at $11.99 per month that includes ads. You can watch movies like West Side Story and Snow White on Disney+. For an ad-free experience, it’s $18.99 a month, or you can save 16% by paying $189.99 for a full year. Check out the deal here.
The actress appears to be standing by her controversial statements, even after facing online backlash. While her co-stars have publicly supported her, she seems confident and self-assured. When asked about staying grounded, the Hunger Games star explained:
What I valued most was simply showing up and doing my job, day in and day out. It’s something I’m really proud of, and no one can ever take that away from me. I also made some incredible, lifelong friends there – the kind of bonds that aren’t broken by anything that happens online. That job truly felt like family.
Despite the significant discussion around the film, Rachel Zegler cherishes her experience working on Snow White. She formed close friendships with her castmates, and even though the movie wasn’t a box office success, she doesn’t regret being part of it.
Rachel Zegler is thriving both on screen and on stage! In addition to her film work, she’s had a successful theater career, starting with her Broadway debut in Romeo & Juliet alongside Kit Connor. She then appeared in Evita in London’s West End, and recently announced she’ll be returning to the West End to star in The Last Five Years with Ben Platt. It’s clear she has no plans to stop anytime soon.
Several of Rachel Zegler’s movies are now available on Disney+. It will be interesting to see what future film projects she chooses, starting with those planned for 2026 and after.
