I’m Convinced Hazbin Hotel Is Already Setting Up Its Biggest Missing Characters

Get ready for the return to Hell-and Prime Video-on October 29, 2025, with the second season of Hazbin Hotel. The first season, which premiered in January 2024, was a fantastic mix of memorable songs, clever humor, and surprisingly rich backstory, leaving fans wanting more. While Charlie Morningstar made significant progress in her goal to rehabilitate sinners (despite some interference from angels), the biggest secrets were developing in both Heaven and Hell. Season 1 culminated in a huge battle between Heaven’s “Exorcists” and the demons of Hazbin Hotel, with Charlie and her team ultimately winning the day. However, the season ended with a major twist: Lute, a particularly dangerous angel, survives the fight and washes ashore on a beach, where she comes face-to-face with Lilith-Adam’s first wife, Lucifer’s ex-wife, and Charlie’s mother. We don’t know much about Lilith yet, except that she left Hell to live a more peaceful life on this mysterious beach, possibly in Heaven.

Lilith is currently the most significant character the show has revealed, but the unfolding events hint at even bigger surprises to come. With Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy joining Season 2 as Abel-Adam’s second son-the groundwork is being laid for the arrival of a hugely important biblical figure. This character, Abel’s mother, Eve, would perfectly reflect and further complicate the already complex relationships within Hell’s royal family. As Heaven and Hell remain locked in conflict, Eve’s potential introduction could transform the war into a deeply personal, age-old family feud, suggesting that the most impactful conflicts in this universe aren’t about good versus evil, but about dysfunctional families. It’s a battle of broken bonds.

The Morningstars’ Reconciliation is Preparing the Ground for Another Original Family

At the heart of Hazbin Hotel lies the broken family dynamics within Hell. Charlie’s hopeful and innocent outlook comes from both her very protective father, Lucifer, and her distant mother, Lilith. Their abilities – creating things and rebelling – define the core of who Charlie is. The first season beautifully developed a story that began to mend this family divide, with Lucifer finally being there for his daughter, revealing the depth of his enduring love, and promising his continued support. This heartwarming reconciliation between father and daughter is what makes the prospect of Season 2 so compelling.

Currently, Lilith is being reintroduced as a key player, not as a distant memory from Charlie’s past or an enigma, but at the request of Lute, the remaining leader of the Exorcists. As the Queen of Hell appears ready to reunite with her husband and daughter, potentially to stop Charlie from trying to save damned souls, the show is clearly building a powerful and prominent royal family dynamic in Hell.

Having the Morningstar family back together in Season 2 would nicely balance the introduction of Heaven’s first family. We’ve already met Adam, the first man, and seen him as the arrogant, rude, and destructive leader of the Exorcists – a leader who ended up being stabbed by Nifty (as Charlie pointed out!). However, introducing Abel in Season 2 adds a really interesting dynamic. As Adam and Eve’s second son, Abel’s presence in Heaven alongside his father, as shown in the full trailer for the new season, creates a direct parallel to Lucifer and Charlie in Hell.

If Lilith comes back and challenges Lucifer, it could make him deal with his former wife. At the same time, Abel’s reappearance might force Adam to face his biggest and most painful mistake as a parent-the consequences of his oldest son, Cain, killing Abel. This creates a striking comparison: a father in Hell trying to rebuild his relationship with his daughter, and a father in Heaven forever burdened with the memory of his perfect son, who died prematurely because of the original sin committed by Adam and Eve.

The Arrival of Abel and Lilith Practically Guarantees Eve’s Debut

Although Lilith and Abel’s reappearances strongly suggest storylines for Season 2, the key element needed to create a complete biblical parallel is Eve. If Lilith represents the initial act of rebellion and was the first wife, Eve is the woman who essentially defines humankind-Adam’s second wife, and the original mother of all living things (and ultimately, death). It’s actually quite surprising we haven’t seen her yet. The stories of Adam, Abel, and possibly even Cain (who would likely be in Hell for committing the first murder, maybe serving as a contrast to Charlie’s next task or a new partner for the season’s main villains, The Vees) all depend on understanding Eve’s point of view. What are the thoughts of the first mother regarding her family’s endless divide-the killing of one son, and the eternal punishment of the other?

Eve would be a powerful contrast to Lilith in the afterlife, positioning these two women-both central figures-as leaders: Eve in Heaven and Lilith in Hell. The failed relationship between Adam and Lilith, stemming from Lilith’s love for Lucifer, is the catalyst for the entire story of Hazbin Hotel. Lucifer and Lilith were considered dangerous to Heaven’s established order and were therefore exiled to create their own realm-Hell.

Eve, the more reserved second wife who stayed and had his children – essentially becoming the mother of all humanity – would bring a fresh kind of conflict to the story. She wouldn’t simply be a supporting character; she’d be a powerful force, able to confront Lilith directly, challenge Adam’s strict rule, and, crucially, offer a nurturing viewpoint that Charlie – who feels deeply affected by Lilith’s abandonment – really needs. Adding Eve in Season 2 would establish her as the central, emotional, and organizational element, causing even more chaos in an already turbulent Heaven, potentially matching the growing problems in Hell.

Adding Eve to the story, alongside Adam and Abel-which echoes the complex past of Lucifer, Lilith, and Charlie-would change Hazbin Hotel from a tale of a princess trying to redeem sinners with her hotel into a grand story about two damaged, eternal families whose struggles determine the destiny of everything.
