I’m a big Superman fan, but he isn’t the leader uniting the heroes in the Absolute Universe. I’ve been following the Absolute line of comics closely for the past year and a half, and I’ve been really drawn to seeing these younger, more vulnerable versions of beloved heroes fight for justice in a particularly difficult world. At the beginning, I expected Superman in this universe to become a central figure, just like he is in the main DC Universe, and inspire others.
However, things haven’t quite played out that way. Superman has definitely evolved since his story began. He’s gone from secretly helping people to being a well-known hero who sometimes clashes with authority. Still, I don’t believe Superman will be the one to ultimately bring all the world’s heroes together. I’m convinced that another key figure, someone naturally better at inspiring others, will take on that leadership role.
Wonder Woman Will be the Absolute Universe’s Champion

I’ve been following Absolute Wonder Woman, and it’s amazing to see how much of a game-changer this version of Diana is in the Absolute Universe! She’s the first openly active hero in ages, and after she took down the Tetracide, everyone fell in love with her. What really gets me is how inspiring she is – she just brings out the best in people. Honestly, she has the biggest group of supporters of any of the Absolute heroes, all these people who look up to her and want to make a difference just like she does.
Wonder Woman actually started the first team-up event for the Absolute heroes. When the Joker and Veronica Cale created a dangerous trap, Diana asked Batman for assistance, even giving him a special item to call her for help three times. This made a strong impression on Batman, and he later reached out to her when he needed a way to help his friend Waylon Jones, who had been transformed into a monster. Earning Batman’s trust was significant, but what was even more remarkable was Wonder Woman’s ability to turn an enemy into an ally.
Okay, so in Absolute Wonder Woman #18, things get pretty intense! Wonder Woman is actively being hunted by one of Circe’s guys, Giovanni Zatara, and she barely makes it back to the Hieron. But here’s the twist – Zatanna’s already there! At first, it looks bad, but Zatanna ends up healing Wonder Woman and even reversing a spell she’d put on her before. They have a quick scuffle, but then Zatanna reveals she’s actually trying to help. She gives Wonder Woman some crucial intel for an upcoming battle. Honestly, Diana’s understandably hesitant to trust her, but it seems Zatanna is genuinely on Wonder Woman’s side now, which is a huge surprise!
Superman is Great, But Absolute Wonder Woman is the Hero This World Needs

I’m a huge Superman fan, but even I recognize that Wonder Woman is currently the most impactful hero. She’s incredibly popular globally, easily makes connections with people, and is the driving force behind building alliances with other heroes. For example, she was the one who proposed that Batman and Superman team up after their initial collaboration. While Superman is fantastic, Wonder Woman is much more focused on bringing everyone together.
It all makes so much sense to me. Wonder Woman’s had a really tough upbringing, practically growing up in hell, and now she’s determined to make a real difference in the world. She genuinely cares about everyone and wants what’s best for Earth. She’s also incredibly smart and realizes that powerful people like Veronica Cale and Jack Grimm V, even the Joker, are holding things back. All she wants is for the planet to flourish, and she believes the only way to do that is for heroes like her, Batman, Superman, and others to team up and work together.
As a huge fan, I’ve been following the Absolute heroes since they first appeared in late 2024, and it’s amazing how much they’ve all grown. But if I had to pick one person to truly bring everyone together, it’d be Wonder Woman, hands down. She genuinely cares and has the passion to save the world, plus she’s not afraid to connect with people. Will the others listen to her? That’s the big question. But I have a feeling that when we finally see the different parts of the Absolute Universe start to connect, it’ll be Wonder Woman who makes it happen – she’ll be the one leading the way.
