Enthusiastic about horror, I seldom need reasons to watch spine-tingling movies and relish the fear, but I eagerly embrace the chilling ambiance of autumn each year by immersing myself in numerous scary films and TV series within the two-month span. What further enhances this Halloween adventure? Combining that seasonal viewing with constructing a fitting LEGO set to match the theme.
My fascination with constructing LEGO creations predates my affection for horror films significantly, and if our tastes align, there’s an abundance of fantastic designs to explore – some inspired by specific movies, while others exude an inherent eerie charm. As we approach the spooky season, several LEGO sets are on sale that perfectly complement the occasion, but here are the three that have particularly piqued my interest.
Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage
It seems that there could be a rule, somewhere in pop culture, stating that millennials should consider “Hocus Pocus” as a timeless Halloween masterpiece – a notion I don’t object to at all. My childhood memories are filled with the captivating story of the Sanderson Sisters, and my history with them makes me especially drawn to the LEGO Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage set. The cottage’s design is striking, with its unique feature of opening up to allow for adjustable interior scenes, but what truly catches my eye are the Easter eggs.
This set pays great attention to detail, showcasing elements like the magic book and Black Flame Candle, but it’s Mary Sanderson’s flying vacuum cleaner that steals the show for me as a standout inclusion.

Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to sing praises for the LEGO Nightmare Before Christmas set that provides a delightful double feature – a perfect Halloween prelude as you construct it, followed by disassembly in eager preparation for its rebuilding when Christmas arrives. What truly sets this masterpiece apart is its uncanny ability to embody the distinctive style of the timeless stop-motion film, evident in its unique shapes. The curve atop the cliff where Jack Skellington and Sally stand beneath the full moon? Nothing short of perfection!

Haunted Mansion
Excluding pop culture references, LEGO still offers fascinating spooky sets to explore, and among the latest creations is the captivating two-story Haunted Mansion. Despite being smaller and less intricate than other sets I’ve seen, it boasts some exceptional qualities. This mansion set showcases a collection of terrifying minifigures such as a traditional glowing ghost, a skeleton, a vampire, a werewolf, and Frankenstein’s monster. The unique appeal of this set lies in its 3-in-1 design: apart from constructing a frightening house, the set also includes instructions to build a haunted train and spooky boat using the same pieces.
Each set marked here is currently in stock and ready for immediate shipment from LEGO. If you’d like to construct them during the upcoming creepy season, it would be wise to grab them as soon as possible.
