Lexi Jones knows she’s under pressure to live up to her late father’s legacy.

As a die-hard fan, I must express my admiration for none other than the daughter of the legendary Iman and the unforgettable David Bowie. Though he departed this world in 2016 after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer, his spirit lives on through his music and his family. Recently, Lexi, the apple of their eye, shared a heartfelt poem she penned to emphasize that she’s more than just the child of a musical icon.

As a connoisseur of life’s finer details, I penned this verse and shared it on my Instagram on the 10th of April: “Though I bear the legacy of greatness, I am not solely defined by that title. They perceive the familial resemblance, they recognize the echoes of my ancestor’s footsteps, yet they overlook the essence of who I truly am – they don’t share in my experiences or feelings as intimately.

It was mentioned that she’s not a replica or reflection of her famous father, Lexi – who recently launched her debut album titled “Xandri” – went on to say, “People often compare me to his greatness as if I should emulate his brilliance.

Her speech revealed that her aim isn’t about matching her father’s achievements, but rather finding joy in what she does and expressing her authentic self through her music.

She penned, “I’m not here to replicate the past, but rather to embrace my passions. In doing so, I believe I’ve already achieved victory.

Lastly, Lexi declared that she would never let others’ views hinder her pursuit of her cherished interest, as expressed in her poem.

She penned, “I never believed I was particularly talented or worthy, and I didn’t see the point in chasing after it. However, I’m not aiming to be a person who is universally loved and respected. Instead, I’m carving out my own path, revealing my genuine self.

Lexi expressed, “However, I’ll continue on my path, staying true to myself, even when things are tough and difficult to satisfy. I’m not aiming to replace him, but rather to discover my own tranquility.

Regarding Iman, who had been married to Bowie for 23 years before his passing, she has expressed concerns in the past about individuals who showed interest in her daughter due to her parentage.

In a 2018 conversation with Porter magazine, Iman stated, “Many agencies and designers reached out to me, expressing that they would be thrilled if she could model for them. However, I declined their offers as she was not interested. It was clear they wanted her because of her connection to David Bowie – her father.
