‘Imagine Being The Person That Killed Elmo.’ Someone Suggested A Muppet Play On Traitors, And Now I Honestly Need To See It

Season 4 of The Traitors is currently airing, and another version for non-celebrities is planned for 2026. Fans of Alan Cumming’s show should enjoy this season if they have Peacock. But even while we’re watching, people are already suggesting who should be on future seasons. I usually don’t follow these suggestions, but someone recently proposed casting a Muppet, and it definitely brightened my day!

You’d only find this kind of idea on X: someone actually suggested putting a Jim Henson puppet on The Traitors. It feels as strange as Rian Johnson pointing out how odd it would be to mix that show with the Knives Out movies. But after seeing this tweet, I’m actually kind of interested in Peacock giving it a try!

Okay, so everyone’s been talking about who would be good on The Traitors, and honestly, Kermit and Miss Piggy seem like a no-brainer. But when people started suggesting Elmo and Cookie Monster, I just couldn’t get on board. Elmo’s way too innocent for all that backstabbing, and I can just picture Cookie Monster being distracted by snacks the whole time – he wouldn’t really be able to play the game! It’s been hilarious reading everyone’s takes, though; I’ve been laughing a lot at some of the suggestions.

  • Imagine being the person that killed Elmo😭 – @AmityLabel
  • Why would you need an actors? Just cast the Muppets as themselves. No one would be upset! Statler & Waldorf for the win! – @SamMoreRHAP
  • Miss Piggy would be an incredible Traitor. – @soulfood77
  • That would actually be amazing, Kermit was on the masked singer so it isn’t IMPOSSIBLE – @Survivo_RAB
  • I’ll see your suggestion and raise you- The Traitors: Muppets and then Alan Cumming as the only human. – @CGPittsburgh

I’d be thrilled to see some classic Muppets join the show! While Kermit and Piggy are great, it would be fun to feature a slightly lesser-known character, like Sam Eagle. His strong patriotic personality could be a funny contrast to the drama of the Real Housewives. I also think Rizzo the Rat would be hilarious, even though it wouldn’t be hard to guess he’s the Traitor. Just picture the chaos at the table when he defends himself from accusations – a rat calling out someone else!

NBC’s New Version Of The Traitors Should Help Solve The Show’s Biggest Problem

There are definitely some practical challenges to figure out. The Muppets can’t physically compete in the challenges on The Traitors, which is a big hurdle. One idea might be to have their voice actors compete instead, but that would ruin the effect of seeing the Muppets themselves as contestants.

I’ve been thinking about how they could make a puppet work on The Traitors, and I think the key is to make the challenges less about physical strength. If that happened, they could design a costume big enough to comfortably hide the puppeteer, kind of like how Kermit was able to compete on The Masked Singer. It would definitely take a lot more planning than usual for the show, and maybe it’s not practical, but I really hope the producers are hearing us fans and will consider it! I’d be so excited to see a puppet compete if they could make it work.
