In a Sea of Live Service, Ghost of Yotei Was the Third Best-Selling PS5 Game of 2025 in the US

Sony likely earned a significant amount of money from Ghost of Yotei, as the PlayStation 5 exclusive became the third best-selling game on PS5 in the US for 2025.

According to data from Circana (thanks to Mat Piscatella), the game was the only single-player title in the top ten best-sellers. All other popular games in the list were ongoing, service-based games.

Just to clarify, these charts only show sales from newly released games – they don’t include how well older, consistently popular games like Fortnite are doing. Even so, this is a significant achievement for PlayStation Studios, particularly considering how competitive the gaming market is.

Yotei came in second place, surpassed only by Battlefield 6, the year’s best-selling game on all platforms, and NBA 2K26, a consistently popular sports title.

Here’s the full top ten:

  1. Battlefield 6
  2. NBA 2K26
  3. Ghost of Yotei
  4. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
  5. Madden NFL 26
  6. EA Sports College Football 26
  7. MLB: The Show 26
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  9. EA Sports FC 26
  10. Forza Horizon 5

The samurai game from Sucker Punch also sold very well as a digital download on the PlayStation Store, as we reported earlier this month.

The game performed stronger in North America compared to Europe. Considering these results along with data from Circana, it’s evident that Yotei has been very successful in the United States.

While Ghost of Yotei is currently a single-player experience, that will soon change with the planned release of its Legends multiplayer mode sometime in 2026. We anticipate news about this free downloadable content will be available shortly.

It’s great to see solo developer projects like Ghost of Yotei succeeding! Let’s keep the comments positive and supportive.
