Anyone watching the 2025 NFL season knows the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Travis Kelce, are facing some challenges this year. After a difficult loss to the Buffalo Bills, the team has a week off. When Travis’s brother, Jason, asked what he planned to do with his time off, Travis politely declined to share personal details, leading to a somewhat awkward conversation.
On the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce wondered if the Chiefs were already focusing on securing a home-field advantage in the playoffs. Travis responded that they’re not looking that far ahead, and right now, their only focus is the next game.
Honestly, I’m not dwelling on anything else right now. All I can think about is how we’re going to take down the Denver Broncos. It’s completely consumed me, and I know it will for the next couple of weeks. That’s where my focus is, period.
Following the tight end’s comment, his brother brought up his upcoming week off. Knowing Travis has previously flown to see Taylor Swift’s concerts during the season and pursued various projects while not playing, Jason wondered if he had anything special planned for the break, and asked:
Hey, things have been a bit much lately, so I’m hoping you can maybe take a break and think about something else for a little while. Anything fun happening with you? Are you planning any trips or adventures? What are you up to this week? I’m really curious to hear about what you’re doing outside of work – tell me about your life!
Without hesitation, Travis responded with a blunt answer:
No. No chance.
Jason casually suggested they could just end the podcast, almost as a joke. Travis laughed and they quickly changed the subject.
Earlier in the show, Travis discussed their recent loss and the Chiefs’ current record of 5 wins and 4 losses. They’ve had a tough season, with defeats against the LA Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, and most recently, the Buffalo Bills. The team has been spending a lot of time reflecting on these setbacks, he explained.
Honestly, I’m frustrated, and it’s been building throughout the whole season, not just because of the Bills game. We’ve lost games we should have won, and I don’t think we played our best against Buffalo. We need to fix these issues and get back to playing with the energy and intensity that defines the Chiefs.
He had just mentioned his confidence in the team, adding that they’ll return feeling refreshed and energized.
It’s understandable why Travis Kelce didn’t want to share his plans for his time off. He and Taylor Swift generally prefer to keep their personal life private, and he’s really focused on recovering and playing well in the Chiefs’ next game against the Broncos. It sounds like he’s determined to come back stronger.

Recently, Travis has been exploring new ventures beyond football, including acting, hosting a game show, and appearing in commercials. He and Taylor Swift are also very supportive of each other’s careers – he often attended her Eras Tour concerts while proudly representing his team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Currently, he appears completely dedicated to his role with the Chiefs, even outside of practice and games, as the team strives for improvement after their break.
