The sci-fi series, which broke viewership records when it launched on November 6th, quickly became a huge success for Apple TV+. But after more than two months, it’s no longer the most-watched show on the platform.
The new season of the thrilling spy series Tehran quickly became the most popular show on FlixPatrol, surpassing Pluribus in just two days. It premiered on November 9th and climbed to the top spot worldwide by January 11th.
The first season of Pluribus concluded on December 24th. It quickly became very popular, staying at number one on the charts for nearly three weeks. However, a new release recently caused it to drop from the top spot.
On January 10th, “Tehran” became the most popular choice in 54 countries. The next day, it climbed to the top in an even wider range of 68 countries. Despite this, the United States continued to prefer “Pluribus,” keeping “Tehran” in second place for the second day in a row as of this writing.
The popular series Tehran first launched in 2020 and quickly gained a following. Season 3 premiered on December 9th on Kan 11, and became available internationally on Apple TV on January 9th.
The TV show Tehran centers around an Israeli Mossad agent who was born in Iran and is now returning for her first mission in Tehran. The series includes conversations in Hebrew, Persian, and English. Season two included a guest appearance by Glenn Close, and Hugh Laurie (known from House MD) appeared in season three as Eric Peterson, a nuclear inspector from South Africa.
The television show Tehran was created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden, and Maor Kohn. It has been very well-received by both critics and viewers since it first aired. The first season earned a 94% approval rating from critics and an 85% rating from audiences. While the second season saw a slight dip in critical approval to 83%, audience approval actually increased to 89%.
There aren’t enough reviews yet to give Season 3 a score, but the ones available are positive. Ed Power of The Daily Telegraph called it “tense, timely, and full of Hugh Laurie – a gripping return for one of the best thrillers out there.”
Tehran & Pluribus Will Return
Both shows have been well-received by both critics and viewers, and more episodes are on the way. Apple TV has confirmed a renewal for Season 3, with the announcement made in early December.
So, Vince Gilligan, the genius behind Breaking Bad, had a hit with Pluribus, but don’t expect a quick return. He’s saying he really wants to do the show justice and isn’t going to rush Season 2, which could mean a significant wait. Interestingly, even Stephen King chimed in publicly about it, seemingly reacting to the potential delay. It’s good to see creators prioritizing quality, even if it means fans have to be patient!
You can watch Tehran and Pluribus on Apple TV. New episodes of Tehran are released every Friday until February 27th.
