Starz showcased two of its most popular series at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend – “Outlander” and its upcoming spinoff, titled “Outlander: Blood of my Blood.” After an exciting panel for “Outlander,” which marked the approaching final season, the cast and producers of “Outlander: Blood of my Blood” shared insights. During the spinoff’s panel, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts disclosed significant details about the prequel’s distribution method.
At Comic-Con, it was announced that Outlander: Blood of my Blood will showcase its first not one but two episodes during its premiere on Friday, August 8th. To further fuel the excitement among fans, Starz also shared two sneak peeks from the upcoming prequel series.
The initial panel video introduces Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser (portrayed by Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (performed by Harriet Slater), from the show ‘Outlander’. In this secret rendezvous, without an overseer, Ellen intends to bid farewell to Brian. However, he persuades her to linger, even momentarily. They decide to use the bridge as their guardian, with Brian vowing to stay on one side and Ellen on the other. The conversation unfolds, revealing Brian’s surname and his status as a bastard, a fact Ellen finds unfortunate.
In the second scene that follows, Hermione Corfield portrays Julia Moriston, Claire Randall’s mother from Outlander, and Jeremy Irvine plays Henry Beauchamp, her father. They are depicted driving towards the Scottish Highlands while on the run, during which Julia points out some beautiful hedgerows filled with wild raspberries that she promised to pick with Claire when they returned home. Henry expresses his worries about Claire, but Julia assures him that she’ll be alright for a few weeks, staying with their dear Uncle Lamb.
The television series “Outlander: Blood of my Blood” serves as a precursor to the popular Starz series “Outlander.” The original series is adapted from the best-selling book series by Diana Gabaldon, with nine books currently available and a tenth, titled “A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out,” planned but yet unpublished. This final book will reportedly conclude the story of Claire and Jamie within the universe created by Gabaldon. Although “Outlander: Blood of my Blood” isn’t tied to any specific novel, Gabaldon is involved as a consulting producer for the prequel series and is also expected to write some episodes for the spin-off show.
In Season 1 of “Outlander: Blood of my Blood,” there will likely be ten full-length episodes. The show features Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Jamie Roy, and Harriet Slater as main characters. Excited fans can catch the first two episodes when they debut on August 8th. Until then, viewers can watch the initial seven episodes of “Outlander” that are currently available.
