Industry airs jaw-dropping twists for multiple characters and shock exit

Please be advised that this article contains major spoilers for Industry season 4, episode 6, “Dear Henry.” It also deals with sensitive and potentially disturbing themes of child sexual abuse, which may be upsetting to some readers.

The conflict among the characters in “Industry” is really escalating, and viewers have noticed the chemistry between Whitney and Henry. This week’s episode significantly develops their connection, alongside a lot of other important events.

Even though Yasmin initially dismissed Harper’s concerns that Whitney was taking advantage of their shared space, the issue clearly bothered her. It came to a head when Yasmin angrily confronted Whitney for going into the bathroom while Henry was showering.

Everyone awkwardly apologizes, and the situation is dismissed with jokes about Henry’s old school relationships. However, cracks are beginning to show in Yasmin and Henry’s marriage as Yasmin keeps thinking about Harper’s comments regarding Whitney’s personality.

The evening begins with a business dinner for Henry and Whitney, but quickly takes a turn when Henry accidentally has a drink – his first since getting sober. He’s been open about his past addiction, which was powerfully portrayed in a recent episode. However, Whitney seems to enjoy the opportunity to tempt him and derail his recovery.

It began with a fancy dinner, but quickly spiraled into a wild sex party in a London warehouse. Picture this: flashing red lights, anonymous figures, and Henry, a businessman, caught up in intimate moments on the dance floor. If only Yasmin knew what he was up to!

The situation becomes strange when Henry experiences arousal in an unusual way – it’s best not to dwell on the details. While he’s caught up in the moment, Whitney unexpectedly tells him “everybody wants you,” which Henry, who craves attention, clearly enjoys hearing.

The scene isn’t focused on the physical act itself, but on the shift in power between the characters. Whitney initiated this encounter, and though she isn’t directly involved, she’s now in control by knowing this secret and holding onto it. Henry maintains an air of mystery, but it’s revealed he’s secretly gathering compromising information about others – and this night is part of that collection.

Beyond the issues within Tender itself, Harper gets a chance to speak at a Women in Finance event. She uses this platform to share SternTao’s research, revealing significant problems with Tender’s financial records – suggesting the company is worth far less than it claims. Interestingly, Yasmin is present and appears genuinely worried about the implications, as Harper predicts the company is headed for a rapid decline.

Tender is beginning to crumble, and Whitney is stunned to learn that EMEA CFO Tony Day (Stephen Campbell Moore) has unexpectedly gone to London when she travels to Ghana to find him. Meanwhile, Henry hasn’t returned home; instead, he’s hiding in a hotel room with two women, and Yasmin is calling to angrily confront him about his actions.

Tony is traveling to London to have a long-awaited conversation with Sweetpea (Miriam Petche) and FinDigest, with a meeting scheduled for the next morning. The SternTao team is briefly excited about this development, but their celebration doesn’t last long.

A major surprise from the episode is the intense conversation between Hayley and Whitney, which reveals Whitney isn’t as innocent as she seems. It turns out she was hired through an escort agency, and she’s previously used it to find women to network with and influence important people.

Hayley mentioned repeatedly going out of her way to help Whitney, but feels unsafe since their trip to Abu Dhabi. She specifically referenced being asked to network with clients of Whitney’s company, Al-Miraj, during that trip.

His previous assistant vanished under strange circumstances, and now she’s threatening to go to the media with what she knows about Whitney and Hayley. She believes Whitney might be involved in something dangerous and demands money in exchange for her silence. Whitney refuses to pay, and Hayley coldly tells him he must face the repercussions of his choices.

The story takes another turn when Whitney connects with Ferdinand (Nico Rogner), a Tender employee and board member, who shares information about the people secretly controlling the company. Ferdinand admits to past theft at a former job, and reveals that powerful, unknown figures helped him quickly rise to the position of CFO.

It was discovered that these individuals were, in fact, the technology division of Russia’s foreign and domestic intelligence agencies, the SVR and FSB.

And the surprises keep coming – it turns out Hayley is a professional escort, and Tender is connected to Russian intelligence, but that’s not all!

I was totally floored when Eric got that text! He was having a nice moment with his daughter, and then BAM – videos of him with Dolly, the girl he just called ‘Hotel Girl’ in his phone. But the real shocker wasn’t the videos, it was the picture of her passport. Seriously, my jaw dropped when it turned out Dolly was born in March 2011 – meaning she’s only 14! This show keeps getting darker and more disturbing, and this reveal was just… awful.

Given the damaging video evidence – likely arranged by Whitney based on what we learned in this episode – it’s understandable that Eric quickly transferred ownership of SternTao to Harper the next day, simply citing “reputational risks.” While this was a surprisingly selfless move for Eric, it deeply betrayed Harper, who was already hesitant to trust him again.

The final scene shows Eric walking down an American street, signaling the definite end of their relationship and the last appearance of Leung in the series, which feels like a fitting conclusion.

While the show often features flawed and irredeemable characters – and Eric is certainly one of the worst – this latest crime is so disturbing it’s not worth dwelling on. Let’s just say goodbye to Eric and move on.
