**Warning: contains full spoilers for Industry season 4 episode 4.**
It’s impossible to predict how successful the show Industry will become, and while viewers have been trying to guess what will happen with Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Harper (Myha’la), the latest episode of season 4 ended in a completely unexpected way.
The episode, titled “1000 Yoots, 1 Marilyn,” ended with things becoming particularly difficult for Rishi (Sagar Radia), a character who has stirred up controversy.
This episode delved deeper into the character of Rishi, who has been largely enigmatic since his wife’s murder. We discovered he’s not only taking cases from Harper, but is also secretly selling cocaine with a woman he’s having an affair with, operating out of his car.
While on another of his adventures, Rishi gets an unexpected call from his mother-in-law requesting a meeting. The scene cuts to an uncomfortable Rishi sitting with her, nervously asking if their son – who’s nearby playing – even recognizes him. It quickly becomes clear she didn’t ask to chat; she needs Rishi to officially approve a name change for their son so she can get a passport and take him on vacation.
And so begins another Rishi spiral.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw Rishi walk into the same pub where James Dycker – played by Charlie Heaton – was clearly having a rough night. James had just had a moment of triumph, confronting Whitney (Max Minghella) at a press conference and feeling good about what he’d uncovered about Tender. But then, everything came crashing down when Tender filed a formal complaint against him, completely deflating his confidence.
Similar to how he exposed his friend Jay, Whitney reported James’s drug use and accused him of sexually assaulting Hayley. These serious claims led to James being fired from his job.
When James and Rishi finally met at the pub, there was a lot of underlying tension between them. Although they were aware of each other, this was their first real introduction, and they quickly connected over drinks and drugs.
The party at Rishi’s apartment was in full swing, with plenty of alcohol, drugs, and incredibly loud music, creating a tense atmosphere. They’d picked up a hitchhiker, Martin Hancock, on the way, who’d mentioned a dangerous trend of drinks being spiked. While viewers were understandably wary of him, no one could have anticipated the events that were about to unfold.

The group, still high from the party, continued using drugs and their conversation turned increasingly disrespectful towards women. Rishi shockingly began talking about suicide. A heated argument erupted between James and Rishi, covering topics like fatherhood and their different perspectives on life’s challenges. Luckily, the mysterious man from the pub offered to get more drinks, giving Rishi an excuse to go to the bathroom.
Rishi emerged from the bathroom, having used more cocaine, and discovered James lifeless on the floor, apparently from an overdose. The loud music – N-Trance’s “Set You Free” was blasting – had attracted the attention of the police, who were now pounding on his door. He was in a really difficult situation.
Rishi is starting to panic, drawing on his difficult past experiences with the legal system – particularly after his wife was murdered. He’s previously been wrongly accused of a murder and avoided jail, but he’s worried about how this new situation will unfold.
He does exactly what the audience fears he’ll do, making a rash decision in a moment of crisis. The pounding on the door grows louder as Rishi climbs onto the balcony railing. It’s unclear whether he’s trying to escape the police, simply hide, or if he’s considering ending his life – his earlier conversations offer no clear answer.
The scene becomes truly disturbing when Rishi takes a deep breath and leaps. The camera then focuses on Rishi lying on the ground, covered in blood and still conscious, but with both feet severely broken and twisted inwards. Despite being in agonizing pain, he remains handcuffed and is arrested by the police.
Rishi is in a dangerous situation again, and we can only hope he finds a way to escape.
