Influencer Ariela ‘La Langosta’ Dies: Friend 6ix9ine Pays Tribute

Ariela “La Langosta” is gone too soon.

The Dominican influencer, who starred in 6ix9ine‘s “Wapae” music video in 2023, has died.

Through a sequence of Instagram Stories posted on August 17 (translated from Spanish), the rapper referred to her as an “extraordinary woman” and the “Queen of New York.

“You supported me in everything,” 6ix9ine added in a tribute to the model. “My sister.”

The police department in Westchester County, New York, reported that Ariela Mejia-Polanco, aged 33, was discovered deceased in her vehicle on the Cross County Parkway on August 17th. After an initial investigation, it appears she suffered fatal gunshot wounds and may have been a victim of targeted violence, according to a press release.

At Ikon New York, where Ariela worked, they too announced her passing on Instagram, stating on August 17th, “Today, we lost one of our brightest lights.

We’re deeply saddened,” said the eatery in Manhattan. “You were exceptional – your happiness, modesty, and kindness towards all shone brightly. We appreciate the abundance of love and encouragement you shared with us, making this place feel like home for you too.

The institution expressed, ‘We find it hard to comprehend… you were the source of our joy, our sunshine. Our affection for you is unwavering and your absence will be deeply felt, eternally.’

Following Ariela’s passing, the restaurant announced a temporary closure as a gesture of respect for one of our cherished colleagues who has sadly departed.

 

The Instagram post stated on August 18th: “She was a radiant, modest spirit filled with extraordinary vitality – the type of person who could brighten any space she stepped into. Her absence will be felt profoundly by us all. Let’s remember to value and appreciate our dear ones, for life is valuable.
