Influencer Paul Kim’s Son Micah Kim Dies at Age 5

Paul Kim and his family are navigating an unimaginable tragedy.

A video creator who shares his Catholic faith announced the heartbreaking loss of his 5-year-old son, Micah Kim. Micah passed away on New Year’s Eve after a medical emergency occurred before Christmas, and he bravely fought for 11 days in the hospital.

My heart absolutely breaks to share that Micah, our precious son, has gone home to be with Our Father. Paul, his dad—and also a loving father to my five other children with his wife, Maggie Kim—shared the news on Instagram January 1st. He said it’s been the most difficult experience of his life, and honestly, it continues to be. We’re all just trying to get through each day.

Micah first became seriously ill on December 21st, when he was hospitalized with what his father, Paul, called a very severe case of the flu.

Paul shared on December 30th that his son developed a severe infection, leading to seizures. Doctors told him it was an exceptionally rare and serious case of the virus – one of the worst they’d ever encountered.

He explained that they were doing everything they could to give Micah more time, even though they knew, ultimately, his recovery wasn’t part of God’s plan. He felt it was his responsibility as a father to fight for his son for as long as possible.

Even while on life support, Micah’s health continued to decline. His father, Paul, explained that Micah suffered severe brain damage, along with injuries to his kidneys and lungs.

In a video posted on January 1st, the influencer explained that his son, Micah, was in a coma before he died, and he believes Micah’s spirit had already left his body. He said, ‘His body was there, but we know that his soul was already with the Lord.’

Paul believes his son continues to have a positive impact, calling it “working miracles in heaven.” His memory lives on with his siblings: Audrey Kim, 11, Aiden Kim, 9, Remy Kim, 6, John Paul Kim, 2, and Joey Kim, 18 months.

Despite a day filled with tears, Paul shared in a video on January 2nd that he’s also been smiling. He said his loved one is now in heaven and doing wonderful things.
