It’s happening again, folks!
A mysterious message from Sony’s in-house studio Bend Studio about their open-world game, Days Gone, has sparked excitement among some members of the Xbox gaming community, with many hoping for a release on their platform despite the game reportedly being designed for Xbox systems.
It’s worth noting that, as pointed out by colleagues at Pure Xbox, a post from the PlayStation team’s Twitter account featuring a monocle emoji has garnered quite a bit of notice.
“Xbox port for Days Gone,” one assumed.
“Is it really happening?” another pondered.
Currently, Bend Studio has yet to explicitly explain the content of their message, however, their responses have been inundated with Xbox enthusiasts, brimming with anticipation to play as protagonist Deacon St. John.
This unexpected surge in requests for PlayStations (specifically, “port begging”) appears to be self-inflicted by Sony, arising after the unforeseen declaration of Helldivers 2 for the Xbox Series X|S, accompanied by a job posting for a Senior Director of Multiplatform.
That job listing read:
In this position, you’ll be instrumental in designing and implementing the worldwide business strategy for PS Studios software offerings across various digital platforms outside of PlayStation hardware. These platforms include Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile devices. Your responsibilities will encompass maximizing profitability for each title, ensuring collaboration among different teams, and managing a skilled team that’s focused on expanding into multiple platforms, planning mid-range commercial initiatives, and maintaining strong relationships with platform partners.
As a passionate fan, I’ve noticed some exciting chatter about upcoming PS5 games potentially making their way to Xbox. Although the details are still hazy, there’s a buzz that more exclusive titles from Sony will be joining the Xbox family.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice Sony’s recent statement about being careful with bringing their beloved franchises beyond console platforms. However, this hasn’t deterred the speculation buzzing around potential ports of iconic titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Days Gone.
At this moment, Microsoft’s strategy of supporting multiple formats has made it a highly sought-after publisher on the PlayStation 5. However, due to declining hardware sales and extraordinary purchases to finance these acquisitions, Xbox finds itself in a position where it must consider alternative strategies.
Instead of directly addressing the rumors, Sony (PlayStation) might clear up a lot of uncertainty by openly discussing their strategies with customers. However, they primarily engage with investors nowadays, which means the pleas for specific games to be released may persist for some time to come.
