Reflecting on the intriguing body art of Elsa Pataky, a lifestyle enthusiast might say: “I’ve always been fascinated by the plethora of tattoos adorning the petite 5-foot-3 figure of this captivating woman. Many of these designs are easily interpretable, adding to her unique and expressive style.

On her fourth finger of the left hand, husband Chris Hemsworth (father of their three children India, 13, and 11-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan) got an “C” tattoo in 2018, which she later reciprocated with an “E”. Additionally, she has symbols representing her family members etched on her forearm. In the year 2017, she and two friends, including Luciana Barroso (wife of Matt Damon), got a set of three dots on their little fingers to symbolize their strong friendship bond.

However, what might catch your eye is the small Thor symbol located on the actress’ right shoulder. This intriguing mark was tattooed on her when she was only 15 years old. She found the design captivating and admired the Norse god’s legend as “beautiful,” as she expressed in the May 2018 issue of Vogue Australia.

It was impossible to predict that about two decades down the line, she would end up married to a robust Australian, primed for portraying a muscular character based on Thor (the hammer-wielding god) on the silver screen.

Indeed, it’s concerning Thor that I wound up marrying; here’s an interesting twist,” she confessed to the mag. “I never imagined life could take such unexpected turns.

In the realm of serendipity, I wholeheartedly believe that some moments are destined to happen. And such was my conviction back in 2010, as an actress thriving in Spain for a good 13 years, when William Ward, my esteemed talent agent, presented me with the enigmatic figure of Chris Hemsworth. His towering 6-foot-3 frame and captivating gaze had yet to transform into a string of consistent, prosperous roles at that time, but our encounter ignited a spark that would later set ablaze the silver screen.

More recently, after a romantic affair with Adrien Brody that included a castle courtship, the woman now aged 49 found herself captivated by Hemsworth from their initial phone conversation, his rich voice sparking her curiosity. Their first in-person meeting only served to deepen this attraction, even though he might not have been able to articulate complex topics like climate change and immigration as he did in a 2017 GQ interview. It’s easy to understand why she didn’t think twice about marrying him just three months into their relationship.

The wedding of the two took place in such a last-minute manner that they continue having a friendly argument over the exact date even today, with Hemsworth confident it was during that specific December. At that time, the pair had already reached the stage where they were meeting each other’s parents and were spending a Christmas vacation in Indonesia with their respective entourages.

In 2016, during an interview on Good Morning Britain, Hemsworth, who was 41 at the time, stated that they made their relationship official because it felt appropriate and natural to them.

Initially, there wasn’t any grand scheme; we were simply enjoying our vacation when spontaneity struck. Shortly after our marriage, my partner and I discovered we were going to be parents. We welcomed our beautiful daughter, India, into the world in May 2012. In March 2014, our twin sons, Tristan and Sasha, joined us.

In an interview with Vogue, Pataky confessed that they moved incredibly fast—getting married, having kids within a year, which can be tough on any relationship. Yet, they persevered due to the immense love they share and their strong personalities. They manage to keep their bond alive because they adore each other deeply.

She finds it amusing when people think they are a flawless couple, but in reality, their relationship has had its fair share of challenges. As she said in an interview with Body + Soul in 2020, “We’re not perfect. There have been highs and lows, and we continue to put effort into making our relationship work.

For a short while, it seemed like things were really up in the air for him. She declined several acting opportunities before re-entering the acting field with the 2018 film “12 Strong,” which she starred alongside her husband. Additionally, she appeared in Netflix’s first Australian-produced series, “Tidelands,” which was released in December 2018.

Since 2014, the couple chose to make their new home in Hemsworth’s hometown after growing tired of Malibu life. They now reside in a coastal property at Byron Bay, allowing him to start his day with a morning surf and finish it off grilling the fish they and the kids caught themselves.

For Pataky, it was displeasing that living in California exposed her children to the intrusive paparazzi – a challenge she found difficult to adapt to, given her husband’s rapidly increasing fame.

She shared with Vogue, “When I first encountered him, he was completely unknown. As we both progressed and I witnessed all his triumphs and transformations, he eventually became extraordinarily successful. And in turn, I’ve also been part of that journey.” In essence, she said, “Experiencing each milestone alongside him contributed positively to our mutual growth.

In 2018, she shared with Elle Australia that starting a family without knowing each other well could have its challenges. He was quite young to take on the responsibilities of starting a family, all while managing his burgeoning career. There were times when it became tough, given the multitude of things happening simultaneously.

However, every time he stepped up to the challenge – such as Hemsworth frequently handling cooking duties while his wife usually handles bedtime tasks – it further confirmed the wisdom of her decisions in their early relationship.

She went on to say, “He constantly strived to be an exceptional father and never missed making me understand that our family is his top priority. It’s by facing those challenges that we’ve grown stronger as a unit.

On occasion, he has pondered, “Geez, due to the significance I place on having children, certain aspects of my work have been compromised,” as the star of Extraction confessed in a 2020 conversation with GQ Australia. “Indeed, there are a few films where I could’ve invested significantly more effort, but I chose, ‘No, I prefer to be with my kids.’

In my expertise on lifestyle, let me share an insightful observation: Couples often have their unique ways of interacting, such as the playful banter they engage in. For instance, when he humorously suggested that being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2014 should exempt him from diaper and dishwashing duties for a while (“I’m above that. I’ve made it now”), she promptly reminded him of the person he was dealing with.

The woman shared with Women’s Health UK the next year: “I do find him attractive and well-built, but I won’t ever tell him this as he might become overconfident.” She explained that he’d likely respond, “‘What do you think of me?’ To which I’d reply, ‘Oh, for many years, I was the sexiest woman in Spain.’ It’s all just a bit of fun, though.” (It’s also worth noting that Hemsworth is no stranger to admiring his wife’s stunning physique.)

For their special outings, they opt for more unique experiences than the typical dinner-and-a-movie. They often visit a London cinema where you can pair films with wine, and a restaurant that takes an innovative approach to dining. As you might guess from its name, Dans Le Noir (which means “in the dark” in French), offers meals served in complete darkness.

Pataky wrote on her closed blog that the meal was enjoyable as it presented a challenge in identifying the dishes. She mentioned that Chris and herself believed they knew what they were eating, but upon seeing the menu after the meal, they were taken aback because they had only correctly guessed half of the dishes!

If they ever find themselves in need of additional motivation, they can simply look towards the older Hemsworths, who have been a long-lasting symbol of successful marriages over the years.

Hemsworth recounted a tale his mom used to share about their younger days when she had been married to his father for years.
