Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger have a lot of movies to share with their kids when they’re old enough to start watching them.
Chris joked on TODAY that his kids will eventually see how cool their dad really is. “They don’t think so yet,” he said, “but someday they will.”
Once Lyla, age 5, Eloise, 3, and Ford, 16 months, have watched all the movies their father has made for kids—and there are even more now with the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie—they can start exploring films made by their grandfather…when they’re a little older.
Chris said Katherine isn’t very comfortable with modern technology, so they’re holding off on doing anything until she’s ready.
The actor’s son, 13-year-old Jack (whose mother is Anna Faris), accompanied him to Tokyo during promotion for the new Super Mario Bros. movie, and Jack thinks his dad’s family-friendly films are “pretty cool.”
This success motivated Chris to create more family-friendly films. As he explained to Men’s Journal, he wants to make movies that both kids enjoy and parents can tolerate – something entertaining for everyone.
In the meantime, he and Katherine are keeping their little ones busy with lots of parks and rec.
In August, Chris shared with TopMob News that he was teaching his daughters to retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool. Meanwhile, Katherine has been posting springtime pictures of her children enjoying various activities – playing in the snow, at the beach, exploring their garden, and even feeding carrots to her horse.

As someone who grew up in Los Angeles, I truly believe kids – and honestly, all of us – need spaces where we can connect with nature, get a little messy, and just be free. Being around animals and having open space to roam was incredibly beneficial for me as a child, and I think it’s so important for healthy development. I shared this with People magazine a while back, and it’s something I still feel strongly about.
Her children’s book, Kat and Brandy, coming out in 2025, explores the special connection between children and animals. She told Extra in November that the story was inspired by her own childhood experiences with overcoming fear. Now, as a mother of three, she wanted to write a book about facing fears, being brave, and finding comfort and strength through animals.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 78-year-old actor known for The Terminator, loves animals and shares his home with a surprising variety of pets, including a tiny horse.
Katherine, the oldest of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s four children with Maria Shriver, explained that visiting her dad’s house satisfies their need for a bit of animal-related craziness. She says he has so many animals living inside his home! Compared to that, their own house is relatively calm with just four chickens.
Although she doesn’t run things like a petting zoo, the 36-year-old has definitely picked up a few parenting habits from her father.
She described herself as someone who believes in consistent chores and holding people accountable for completing them, and she believes this comes from her father, who didn’t accept excuses for unfinished tasks. She shared this on the Cat and Nat Unfiltered podcast in November.

Chris, who describes himself as a sensitive person, shared on Today last August that his upbringing greatly impacts how he parents. He explained that his late father, Dan Pratt, a contractor, was a very strict and demanding man. Because of this, Chris makes a conscious effort to be more understanding and gentle with his own children, choosing a less harsh and rigid approach.
Katherine “is more of the rule enforcer,” he added.
Katherine shared with People magazine in November that she and her partner have always prioritized clear communication. She explained that this has been crucial to their relationship, especially as their lives have become more hectic with the addition of children. They continue to make communication a top priority.
Katherine explained that they complement each other well, pointing out that Chris excels in areas where she doesn’t, and vice versa. She described them as a strong team.

Chris, 46, told Men’s Journal in 2023 that having children is “amazing” because it gives you a fresh perspective on everyday life. He explained that as kids grow, the focus shifts to understanding and appreciating their individual personalities.
You know, as a lifestyle expert, I’m always asked how couples stay connected, especially when life gets hectic. Well, I recently learned from Katherine that she and her husband – they’ve been married six years – make it a priority to carve out these little ‘micro moments’ just for each other. It’s about finding those small pockets of time amidst the craziness to really enjoy each other’s company.
It’s easy to feel like you have to plan big date nights or trips to stay connected, but really, it’s the small moments you share throughout the day that make a difference. Those little connections take the pressure off and are much more manageable, especially when life gets busy.
They were thrilled to start a family, welcoming their daughter Lyla just 14 months after their wedding in June 2019.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023, Chris Pratt shared how quickly things moved after meeting Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2018. He explained that he was going through a difficult time following his divorce, but meeting Katherine felt like everything fell into place. He said, “When it’s right, it happens fast,” adding that they quickly fell in love, got married, and now have two daughters who have completed his family.
Chris first saw her at a church in Hollywood while picking up his son, Jack, from an event. He jokingly admitted on Fox & Friends in December that, “Even though you’re not supposed to notice girls at church, I’m only human.” However, they didn’t begin dating immediately.
But when they did, Katherine was the one who took Chris someplace special.

She told Extra that they were complete strangers when he started planning their first date.
She hoped that driving a long distance to see her old horse in Carpinteria, California, would help her understand what Chris was really like.
Looking back, taking a five-hour drive with someone I didn’t know was a bit of a gamble, but it actually led to a lot of good conversation.
Katherine decided to work with a step-parenting coach shortly after her engagement in January 2019, wanting to navigate her relationship with her future stepson, Jack. As she explained in a July 2025 interview on the Parenting & You With Dr. Shefali podcast, there’s no easy guide to being a stepparent – just like there isn’t for regular parenting.
I’m happy to say that co-parenting with Anna is going really well. It definitely requires effort from both of us, but it works when we’re both committed. I sometimes struggle with my own ego, but I remind myself that this is about what’s best for our child, not about me.
Speaking with People magazine in October, she shared how thankful she is to be both a mom and a stepmom, saying it’s a chance for her to learn and grow as a person.
Of course, it’s been a crash course for everyone involved.
Being a parent to four kids is…well, it’s beautifully chaotic! Chris shared with TopMob News how incredibly busy things are, but also how wonderfully fulfilling it all is. He says he’s soaking up every single moment he gets at home with them, and honestly, you can just feel how grateful he is. It truly sounds like a glorious life, and they feel so blessed – and as a follower, it’s heartwarming to hear!
