Sammyuri, a well-known Minecraft creator, has unveiled another impressive build called CraftGPT. This complex creation really highlights the limitless possibilities and creative freedom that Minecraft offers.
Sammyuri is a Minecraft builder famous for incredibly complex projects. They previously wowed the community by creating a playable version of Minecraft *within* Minecraft itself. Now, after a three-year hiatus, they’re back with an even bigger challenge: a chatbot built from 439 million blocks and featuring 5 million parameters.
Inside CraftGPT
CraftGPT is a surprisingly advanced language model created entirely within the game Minecraft, using only Redstone circuitry. It doesn’t compete with today’s powerful AI, but it’s an impressive feat considering it’s built from in-game components without any external tools or modifications.
CraftGPT is designed for brief chats and was trained using data from TinyChat. While it uses over 5 million parameters – a significant number – it’s much smaller than models like ChatGPT, which have billions.
Sammyuri explained how the project works technically, mentioning its small vocabulary, six-layer network, and methods for reducing data size. It also has a limited memory, able to consider only 64 blocks of information at a time. While these features are simpler than those found in typical AI, they’re still remarkable considering the AI was built using Minecraft blocks.
This project is incredibly massive and complex – it’s easy to see why Sammyuri hasn’t shared an update in so long.
CraftGPT is an enormous creation, built with over 430 million blocks and measuring 1,020 by 260 by 1,656 blocks. It’s so large that a special modification, or ‘mod,’ was required to allow the game to display it properly.
Sammyuri’s redstone legacy
Sammyuri consistently amazes with their ambitious Minecraft creations. They’ve tackled incredible projects like building a Minecraft world within Minecraft and even designed a working 1Hz computer named CHUNGUS 2, constantly redefining what’s possible in the game.
It’s hard to predict what Sammyuri will do next, or when we’ll see another amazing build, but their potential seems limitless. Although CraftGPT isn’t speedy – responses can take up to two hours – it’s another great example of how incredibly flexible Minecraft can be.
The future of AI in Minecraft
Sammyuri’s project stands out as a unique accomplishment, but other tools are also combining Minecraft with artificial intelligence. A prime example is CreativeMode, a platform where players can simply describe a mod idea in a chat window, and the AI will automatically create a working version for the Java Edition of the game.
This greatly simplifies the process of modding. While modding has always been difficult but satisfying for those who put in the effort to learn, CreativeMode makes it much easier for everyone.
This tool is still under development, but it can currently generate content for items, blocks, and creatures. The creators plan to add support for structures, biomes, and complete modifications in the future. You can also explore creations shared by other users, which include everything from simple pistols to complex items like the Infinity Gauntlet.
AI isn’t limited to just one application within Minecraft. Many creators are now teaching AI to play the game, usually to test its capabilities or create videos. Even though a lot of this is for fun and entertainment, it’s still amazing to see how AI is being used in Minecraft.
While I’m not completely convinced AI will take over everything, the recent advancements are truly remarkable. The work Sammyuri has done is astonishing, and I’m excited to see what they develop in the future.
