The award for best gift bag goes to the Oscars.
Everyone nominated for an acting or directing Oscar in 2026—including Timothée Chalamet, Ryan Coogler, Kate Hudson, and others—received a valuable gift bag worth over $100,000, even if they didn’t win an award.
The gifts given to this year’s award nominees aren’t about financial need,” explained Lash Fary, founder of Distinctive Assets, in a statement on March 2nd. “We’re celebrating these incredible nominees and also highlighting small businesses, brands owned by people of color, women-led companies, and businesses that support good causes – all at a time when a little joy could brighten everyone’s day.”
The gift bag’s high cost included an all-expenses-paid stay in a luxury Ibiza villa for the recipient and 16 friends, a liposuction procedure from ArtLipo, and a custom-made prenuptial agreement with legal guidance, just in case the recipient and their partner ever decide to separate.
This year’s Oscar nominees will receive high-end gift bags filled with treats like a bottle of tequila and a $300 crypto wallet card. They’ll also get a smile makeover from Beverly Hills Dental Arts and can enjoy spa treatments. Distinctive Assets, the marketing company putting the bags together (and not associated with the Academy Awards), also included some smaller items like chocolate-covered almonds and wine glasses for a low-key celebration.
For the 24th consecutive year, Distinctive Assets is creating the high-end gift bags. However, celebrities who redeem the more expensive gifts – like exclusive experiences – are responsible for paying the taxes on those items, reports The Wall Street Journal. The total value of all the gifts this year is estimated at $346,000.
The gifts nominees receive are estimated to be worth about $6,000, but past Oscars goodie bags suggest the total value could be much higher. Last year’s bags included luxurious items like a $23,000 trip to the Maldives, a $5,200 hotel stay in Barcelona, and a $25,000 family history experience.
In a February 2025 interview with CNBC, Lashtold explained that when designing his bag, he aims to create items that celebrities would genuinely want to buy, saying, ‘I want to include things that are really cool and desirable.’
