Instagram has made it easier for you to find your friends.
On August 6, Meta’s photo-sharing application revealed a set of upgrades, among which is Instagram Maps – an adjustable tool enabling users to monitor the locations of their friends.
On Meta’s site as of August 6, it was announced that you have the option to share your recent active location with selected friends, a feature which you can disable anytime. Additionally, the platform enables you to explore posts from your friends and favorite content creators, all originating from intriguing or enjoyable locations, by simply opening the map.
For individuals preferring privacy regarding their locations, Instagram guarantees that “location sharing is turned off by default, unless explicitly enabled.
Should you decide to participate, Instagram allows users to select among sharing with all, a select group of friends, a customized audience, or keeping their posts private for no one to see.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d guide you to step into your Direct Messages (DMs) and seek out the “Map” feature. Upon finding it, simply tap the “Settings” icon that appears. Here, you’ll be invited to enable location services by following the prompt. Enjoy exploring with this new feature!
For users who choose to activate the location feature, their position will be updated each time they launch the app. On the other hand, individuals who have previously shared their location can deactivate this feature by navigating to the Map settings and selecting the option ‘Do not share location’.
This feature serves not only for keeping tabs on friends and relatives, but also allows Meta users to explore trendy locations marked by their friends and acquaintances. It’s worth noting that this update is designed with a focus on enhancing parental controls for younger users.
If your teenager activates location sharing, you’ll get a notification, enabling you to discuss safely sharing locations with friends. You have control over whether your teenager can share their location on the map and can view who they are currently sharing it with.
In essence, Meta assured a secure journey for everyone, emphasizing that regardless of how you navigate the map, it offers a fresh, less burdensome method for you and your friends to interact.
