As a devoted admirer, it’s clear that Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog can’t help but share exciting insights about their upcoming masterpiece, “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.” He simply can’t contain his enthusiasm!
During a conversation with Variety, he discussed his departure from The Last of Us TV series and his renewed focus on video games. He described the upcoming sci-fi project as the “most daring” undertaking his studio has ever embarked upon.
He teased:
What I can express and what I can’t? I can share that we’re deep into an intense phase. We’re producing this project, we’re putting it all together. We’re operating at full capacity. Let me emphasize, I’ve expressed this earlier but I truly mean it now – I feel it in my core: This is the most challenging game we’ve ever undertaken. It’s the largest game we’ve ever created, possibly even the costliest, by the end of its development.
Neil Druckmann confirmed that longtime collaborator Troy Baker will appear in the game; however, he did not specify what part Baker will play.
Instead, it’s confirmed that Baker was involved in Tati Gabrielle’s audition process for the lead role as Jordan A. Mun, a fact that may have contributed to her success.
He explained:
I shared the story with her as it stood initially, and we discussed it from start to finish, clarifying her potential role. I then asked if she’d be interested in auditioning, and she agreed. During the audition, Troy Baker joined her on stage for a reading session. We were convinced that she was our ideal candidate for Jordan A. Mun.
As a devoted admirer, I can share that Neil Druckmann spoke about the intricacies involved in crafting a science fiction narrative, contrasting it with the relative familiarity of something akin to The Last of Us, where the laws of the fictional world are somewhat clear-cut.
He noted:
In this scenario, not only do we need to create the universe’s framework, including its governing principles, but also delve into its history. Since we are exploring an alternate future set 2,000 years ahead, it is essential to uncover the tales and traditions of the planet Sempiria, where our protagonist, Jordan, arrives and must find a way to depart from.
So, when will we see more of the game? Druckmann wouldn’t say:
Regarding the unveiling of our game content, I’m incredibly eager to share and discuss more details since the trailer only gives a glimpse into what our game truly encompasses. However, launching a game like this, particularly a new IP from Naughty Dog, requires careful coordination with marketing, PR, and many other teams. So, it would be imprudent of me to specify when we’ll reveal something at this moment.
As a devoted fan, I’m excitedly anticipating the impending unveiling of Marvel’s Wolverine by Sony. However, given the circumstance, I suspect they might hold off on discussing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for now.
The company managing the platform is now adopting an approach to concentrate on a limited number of forthcoming games at any given moment, and it’s been announced that Housemarque’s Saros will have a new gameplay unveiling towards the end of this year too.
This implies that there’s an abundance of topics yet to discuss regarding its future content, and as it gets closer to launching Intergalactic, it will gradually reveal more details about it.
