Here is an overview of the game, via Inti Creates:
■ About
Okay, so I’m really into this game, Kingdom’s Return: Time-Eating Fruit and the Ancient Monster. Basically, you’re trying to rebuild a kingdom that’s fallen on hard times. You run around in these cool 2D levels, collecting stuff you find, and then you take all that back to your city to rebuild and make it stronger. It’s a mix of action RPG – you’re actually playing the adventure – and strategy, because you get to design your city however you want and level up your characters. It’s a pretty awesome combo!
Choose from four unique characters – the Imperial, Alchemist, Wizard, or Zipangu – and embark on an exciting adventure through challenging levels. Gather resources along the way to develop your kingdom by constructing buildings that enhance your characters’ abilities. Then, venture forth to overcome increasingly difficult stages and become a force to be reckoned with, even for the toughest bosses!
■ Story
You’re a solitary adventurer in a land filled with swords, magic, and fairies, and you’ve unexpectedly been given the job of restoring the fallen kingdom of Almacia – with the help of Chronos, the Fairy of Time.
Through adventure (action) and revival (strategy), restore the kingdom to its former glory!
■ Playable Characters
Imperial
With high defense, Imperial is your reliable close-range fighter.
She uses her shield to protect herself while closing in for a sword attack. Her skills are simple to learn, and a special counter move helps her deal a lot of damage.
Alchemist
I love playing the Alchemist! Basically, I’m all about brewing potions to mess with enemies – things like poisoning them, slowing them down, or just generally causing chaos. What’s really cool is I can actually change the type of damage my potions do on the fly, so I can always pick the best effect for whatever enemy I’m facing. It’s all about finding the perfect brew for the moment!
His skills also apply a variety of debuffs, allowing him to consistently weaken his enemies.
Conversely, he has few direct attacks, so he’ll need to focus on status effects while he fights.
Wizard
Wizard fights from long range using a variety of magic attacks.
She can build up magical power by using her special attack first. Almost everything she does costs skill points, so managing those points is important.
Her health and defense is low, so positioning is of utmost importance.
Zipangu
Skilled at attacking and dodging, Zipangu’s specialty is consecutive attacks.
He can get in close with a dodge move, then press the attack harder than any other character.
His strategy is straightforward: avoid the attack and then counter. But because his defense isn’t very strong, getting hit would be a problem.
