Rumiko Takahashi is famous for creating Inuyasha, the popular anime character, but she’s created many other works as well. Following the end of the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon sequel, Takahashi has started a new supernatural manga series. This new series will be adapted into an anime this spring, and its main character has unexpectedly teamed up with a hero from another anime in a special crossover event.
Shueisha, a major publisher, has a podcast dedicated to the world of manga. The podcast often features interviews with famous manga artists, discussing both their past work and the current state of the industry. Recently, the podcast “Shonen Sunday’s Speech Bubble” hosted Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Case Closed (known as Detective Conan in Japan), who talked about his series and offered advice to aspiring artists. Next week, on March 4th, the podcast will feature Rumiko Takahashi. Then, on March 11th, Aoyama and Takahashi will appear together in a special crossover episode. To celebrate, new artwork has been released showing characters from Rumiko Takahashi’s latest series, Mao, alongside Detective Conan.

What is Inuyasha’s Spiritual Successor?

If you’re not familiar with Mao, this manga series began in 2019 and is still being updated with new chapters. Now, the studio behind the popular anime Inuyasha is bringing this new world created by Rumiko Takahashi to life in an anime this spring. While it shares some similarities with Inuyasha, it’s a distinct and different story. The series centers around the main character battling ghosts, and features a female lead who travels back in time. It’s expected to appeal to fans who enjoyed the adventures of Inuyasha and Kagome.
The Case Closed anime remains incredibly popular in Japan. However, it hasn’t achieved the same level of success in North America as series like One Piece and Dragon Ball. Even with a huge number of episodes and movies, Detective Conan hasn’t become a major hit in Western markets. Thankfully, more episodes are now becoming available in the United States, and hopefully, this will attract new fans to the show and its young detective protagonist.
Surprisingly, the popular anime Case Closed recently had a crossover event that caused some problems. When Detective Conan teamed up with My Hero Academia, it sparked controversy in China because a character from My Hero Academia’s school was still a sensitive topic for many people there.
