Season 4 of *Invincible* will feature a completely new storyline, separate from the original comic books, and the show’s co-creator has revealed when this story will begin. While seasons 1-3 closely followed the comics by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the season 3 finale’s post-credits scene introduced an unexpected returning character. This sets the stage for an original story arc in the upcoming season.
Robert Kirkman, co-creator of *Invincible*, revealed at New York Comic Con that he personally wrote the fourth episode of Season 4. He explained that this episode features an original story not based on the comic books, making it particularly meaningful to him and something he wanted to be directly involved in.
Invincible Creator Teases Season 4’s Original Story
Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, has revealed he wrote the story for the fourth episode of Season 4. He praised showrunner Simon Racioppa and the entire team for their work on the rest of the season, explaining he primarily collaborated with Racioppa to ensure the story flowed correctly. Kirkman also highlighted the strong writing staff who handled the details. The Season 3 finale’s post-credits scene featured horror star Bruce Campbell, who will also play a significant role in this new storyline.
Kirkman hinted that Episode 4 will be a significant departure from the show’s usual format, revealing, “It’s a big sidestep from what fans have come to expect.” He also praised Bruce’s contribution, calling him “absolutely awesome” and an “icon” in the industry, and expressed his excitement about having him voice a character in the episode.
Robert Kirkman Drops Major Invincible Season 4 Hints

Kirkman hinted that an upcoming episode of *Invincible* will be surprisingly different from the usual format, calling it “cool stuff” and a “big sidestep” that he finds “really fun and exciting.” He hopes fans will love it.
