Invincible Star Addresses Spider-Man: Brand New Day Casting Rumors

After speculation that Steven Yeun might appear in the upcoming Spider-Man 4, titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the actor has clarified the situation.

This summer, a new Spider-Man movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (known for his work on Wonder Man and Shang-Chi), will be released in US theaters. Tom Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, continuing his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Rumors circulated that Steven Yeun might appear in the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ project, with some fans guessing he could play the villain Mister Negative. However, Marvel never officially confirmed his involvement.

So, I was really excited when I heard Steven Yeun was going to be playing Sentry in Thunderbolts! Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. The strikes last year threw a wrench in his schedule, and he had to drop the role. Lewis Pullman ended up playing Sentry instead, which is cool, but Yeun has said he’s still definitely interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe if another opportunity comes along. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for him!

Steven Yeun recently addressed rumors about potentially appearing in Spider-Man 4 during an interview with ComicBook. He was asked directly if he’d been considered for a role in the film.

Yeun said, “Honestly, if something like that existed, I wouldn’t know about it. But it would be really cool.”

Though Steven Yeun won’t be in the next Spider-Man movie, many familiar actors will be returning. Alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, and Jacob Batalon will be back as Ned. Joining them are Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, along with Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
