As a huge MCU fan, I’m always excited to hear about new casting choices! It’s a shame Steven Yeun, who voices Invincible, had to drop out of playing Sentry in Thunderbolts due to scheduling issues – I was really looking forward to that. He’s still open to joining Marvel later, which is awesome! But get this – one of his co-stars from Invincible actually has a dream role in mind, and it’s a pretty obscure character from Marvel’s past. It’s cool to see the cast thinking about how they could fit into the MCU!
Gillian Jacobs, the voice of Atom Eve in Invincible, recently told MovieWeb she’d love to play a lesser-known Marvel character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She specifically pitched Dakota North, a character from a short-lived Marvel comic series, suggesting it would make a fantastic TV show. Jacobs expressed her enthusiasm for the character and the comic’s visual style, saying she’s been a fan for a while and believes it’s a really fun world.
How Could Dakota North Fit Into the MCU?

Dakota North would be a fantastic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially within the gritty world of Daredevil: Born Again. First appearing in her own comic series in 1986, Dakota is the daughter of a CIA agent who became a highly successful private investigator, eventually expanding her business globally. Her adventures have already crossed paths with popular heroes like Spider-Man – she once protected Mary Jane – and the Punisher, whom she met while solving a wrongful accusation case.
Introducing Dakota North into the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, alongside Jessica Jones’ private investigator, would be a fantastic addition. Because Dakota North isn’t a well-known character in the comics – she’s only appeared in 69 issues – Marvel has a lot of freedom to reimagine her story. Interestingly, Jessica and Dakota are already friends in the comics, and Jessica actually suggested Dakota for a job protecting Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson after having her child. Given Dakota’s past working with journalist Ben Urich on the Daredevil comic, it would be great to see her team up with Ben’s niece in the Daredevil: Born Again series as well.
Look, I’ll say it: Gillian Jacobs needs to be in the MCU. Seriously, the woman is fantastic. Beyond her voice work on Invincible, she’s killing it as Tiff in The Bear – you really feel the history between her and Richie. And if you go back and check out her work in shows like Community, Love, Transatlantic, and even Girls, it’s clear she’s got the range and charisma to absolutely shine in a Marvel project. Give this woman a bigger platform – she’s earned it.
