Quarter Up Developers have shared additional insights about their upcoming tag fighting game titled Invincible VS. This time they delved deeper into the gameplay mechanics for the character Omni-Man, and also demonstrated more action from the game. You can watch the trailer and an interview with the developers below.
In the demonstration of Omni-Man’s gameplay, there was a notable focus on the character’s immense physical power and lightning-fast speed. The studio has revealed that JK Simmons will be lending his voice to the character again, reprising his role from the Amazon Prime series. Additionally, the gameplay for Invincible VS, particularly featuring Omni-Man, was displayed in its entirety during a full match.
Omni-Man possesses several unique moves, such as a powerful overhead strike that forcefully slams opponents onto the ground. This move can be augmented for additional hits, potentially sending the adversary flying and setting the stage for more complex combinations. Additionally, Omni-Man employs a wind blast from afar and an uppercut attack, both of which can be amplified to deliver multiple strikes, making them vulnerable to extended combos.
In simpler terms, Omni-Man is a character that moves around a lot and possesses immense physical power, which he uses effectively throughout the game. Certain of his actions provide him with invulnerability, making him immune to flinching. Notably, his ultimate skill is indestructible and cannot be blocked, leaving players to dodge it at the right moment with precise movements to stay safe.
The developers highlight that the game Invincible VS places significant importance on every character having a distinct role. Strategically combining various types of support moves unique to each character is crucial for team composition during regular games. Players must also develop strategies to counter opposing teams, while simultaneously mastering their own characters’ abilities.
Regarding gameplay in general, we’ll explore some distinctive features of the game Invincible VS, including how certain moves can flow into tags to involve other characters for extended combos. Additionally, we’ll highlight some aids like Omni-Man’s uppercut, which effectively counters opponents attempting to close in by jumping.
One intriguing aspect demonstrated was how stage transformations will occur. In case a character collapses, indicated by them falling to their knees, they can then be pushed against a sidewall to initiate a stage transition. This maneuver significantly boosts the attacker, increasing the regeneration speed of their energy gauge simultaneously disabling the defender’s support characters for a full ten seconds.
The highly-anticipated fighting game, titled Invincible VS, is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026. Although the exact size of the game’s character roster remains uncertain, the developers have hinted that it will feature between 15 and 20 characters. Creator Robert Kirkman has further confirmed that there’s a very high probability (99%) that players’ favorite characters will be included in the game.
