As a dedicated fan of The Sims 4, I’ve always admired its position as the reigning champion in life simulation games. However, there’s been a growing desire among us fans for some fresh alternatives to spice things up a bit. For quite a while now, inZOI has been touted as a potential contender… though it wasn’t quite ready yet. In March, it entered early access, and the graphics were nothing short of impressive. Still, we yearned for more content. Now, inZOI has unveiled its first free DLC expansion, and it’s got us fans eagerly anticipating its return.
A frequent criticism among fans of The Sims 4 is that a significant amount of its content is hidden behind a paywall. While there are free updates to the base game that include some new features, most major releases of fresh content come from paid DLC. Over the past 10 years, accumulating all the content in The Sims 4 can become quite expensive. This is one aspect that drew gamers towards inZOI, as they announced their roadmap for early access. Until the game reaches version 1.0, all its DLC will be completely free. Therefore, players who have already purchased the base game won’t incur any extra costs for new content, at least not for the time being.
Until now, we were unsure about the specific details of the free DLC content for the game. Earlier plans mentioned that the first DLC would be “Kucingku,” or the “cat island,” but Krafton has shifted their focus with this DLC. Recently, Kjun shared some insights on the changes, and Krafton has now revealed a concept teaser trailer for the new inZOI DLC, giving us a glimpse into what we can expect in the future.
The upcoming first expansion for the game inZOI is named Island Getaway. This addition introduces an entirely new location, the island of Cahaya, where your Zois characters can now journey. From the brief glimpses in the trailer, it appears that this tropical island will serve as a relaxing retreat for Zois, much like certain vacation worlds in The Sims 4. For fans who have enjoyed packs such as Island Living and Outdoor Retreat in The Sims 4, this tropical escape could offer similar benefits and rekindle the passion for playing inZOI.
Learn More About The First inZOI DLC in Upcoming Preview Livestream
Krafton hasn’t disclosed much specific information about their upcoming DLC just yet, but it appears that they intend to launch it in August 2025. Furthermore, a recent survey among players indicates that Cahaya will have two primary islands. The new region will encompass the main island along with an island resort specifically designed for zoises to discover.
Both islands await.

Apart from its imminent arrival and the hint that it’s approaching “soon,” the inZOI: Island Getaway DLC remains somewhat enigmatic. However, fans won’t have to wait much longer for more information. Krafton has scheduled a showcase on August 15th at 1 AM UTC, which translates to August 14th at 9 PM EDT during which they will disclose new details about the upcoming DLC, as well as provide some insights into future plans for inZOI.
Before the inZOI @ Cahaya live stream event, fans can ask their questions on the official Discord channel. During the broadcast, developers will answer these questions, providing a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the future of this life simulation game. The DLC preview, accompanied by a Q&A session, will be streamed live via the official inZOI Twitch and YouTube channels.
